We're now in the last week of May, big Dan should record a podcast before the week-end and at least give us some updates on the actual XMC-1 situation, I hope.

It was available on the website earlier today for free. I just got my shipment notice. My unit is even signed over the faceplate with a black permanent Sharpie by Dan Laufman, Lonnie Vaughn, & Ray Dennison.

Keeping customers up to date or informed= great customer service. I feel Emotiva hasn't done that in regards to the XMC-1. That's why I went ahead and purchased the Marantz AV8801.

Don't get me wrong, Emotiva makes great stuff. I have an XPR-5 and XPR-2. I would've liked to get the XMC-1 but I can't wait anymore and I would love to get the RMC-1 to match my amps but I can't wait 5+ years for that. So I went ahead and got the Marantz AV8801. It sounds INCREDIBLE!!!! It's getting a bit boring around here......so............ In between selling my UMC-1 and receiving the UMC-200 I tried an 8801 and it was huge disappointment. A list of my issues; Failed connection to Pandora No sound from wides and highs on DTS-MA or Dolby THD Would not work at all with my Pana, kept on freezing Would not handle gapless music tracks HDMI 2 output dropping out No picture settings storage Had a noticeable detrimental effect on the picture quality, so much so that I went direct to the display Could not have Airplay music with Slideshow pictures Excessive heat output for what is after all just a processor It was huge, far bigger than a processor needs to be, I suspect it's size was purely to impress the impressionable. Now I know what you are going to say, you don't have these problems, well they existed, just have a look at the firmware update lists. Some of them still exist, because they are basic flaws in the design. I sent it back and got an UMC-200 instead, for 1/5th the price, 20 degrees less heat and 1/4 the size. Cheers Gary

Why on Earth would any Audiophile buy such a thing?!?! I'm so confused on this. The SQ is barely better than the UMC-1. I'd rather have good sound. I understand people not wanting to wait for the XMC-1 which was originally announced in what 2009 or was it 2008? What I can't understand is the popularity of the Marantz unit. People should buy a NAD receiver first. The sound quality is that much better. Me, I'm patiently waiting for the XMC-1. However, I understand why Ron sold his company (Sherbourn) now. Might as well have the designers who are causing the massive waits be the ones to hear it from everyone. This really has gone on too long.

I would think that letting us know current status as in what part they are working on - firmware, chip change, etc - would keep the troops waiting. They don't have to post target ship dates although that would be nice. Any info on progress would keep people in line versus purchasing from other manufacturers. Heck I think some here have been waiting for years for the release. I am one on the waiting list.

I agree with Peterk, simple status or a thread saying something on the XMC-1 would've been great and probably would've made me wait on the XMC-1. I'm sure the UMC-200 is great but after reading all the miscues with the firmware updating process, that kept me from getting it. Every time one of my electronics needs an update, it just updates itself. Never have to do all the things you have to do to update the UMC-200 and besides, the download only works with windows. I don't have windows. All I have is Macs. Like I said, I'm sure the UMC-200 is great and hope everyone enjoys it. NO processor is perfect but I've had no issues with my Marantz. I would agree with MVC2011, the Marantz is huge and I don't like the fact that it doesn't match my amps, that is why I would love to get the RMC-1 to match my XPR's but I know it'll be another 5+ years for that to come out. I just left Magnolia Design Center, I auditioned the Mcintosh MX121 and MC303 and MC205. Love them all. I might just get all three. If I do, I'll put my XPR-5 and XPR-2 for sale.

Cheers Gary I own the Marantz AV7701 and have none of the problems you speak of, I absolutely love it........video on my Panasonic Plasma is flawless and much improved than just going straight through, and sound quality in 2 channel or 7.1 is incredible, room acoustic software that actually works....and the best thing it works like it should with everything I own, I mean everything cables and all!!.........and oh I all most forgot, updates are automatically downloaded without a hitch!.........no worries just sit back and enjoy!!........Paid $1400 cdn at a local store in Toronto, which to me is a hell of a steal!

Isn't it great to have options? I've always thought so when I just have to have that certain product. For those of you that have moved on to a processor that is presently available to purchase from your local or on-line dealer, please feel free to give us a review or your impressions in "The HT Zone" section of the Lounge. Looking forward to reading them. I do however ask that this thread move back on subject. Thanks for everyone's cooperation.

UMC-1 working fine for me but yes I am waiting on the XMC-1, I'm assuming no podcast lately as they are not ready to give one and to me that is exciting as it most likely means we are close.

Well, I am no expert but I am an educated man so I will go on the record for saying it will be in the Cenozoic era and within the Holocene Epoch and you can bet all your savings on that, rest assured!

Why don't we have a Lottery on the XMC-1 release date? My choice is:
First day of EMOfest 2013 <- rasputin

I have been kind of vocal on this issue. I am disappointed that there is no communication whatsoever and I think that it is wrong. I say that because this processor was promised to be shipped last fall and certainly in early in 2013 and of course neither has happened. There are many who want to stick with Emotiva like me who are waiting for "something" to be said so they can form and make an intelligent decision.
If the XMC-1 is mired in technology issues and is a long way off, say so. At least then those who are waiting can make up their minds and do what they feel is right for their personal situation. I'd hate to go buy something else and in a month or two see that the XMC-1 is ready to be shipped.
As I said earlier, I'm not looking for a ship date, just an update. I think we are owed that and thats not too much to ask in my view..

Now in production! "Thanks for being so patient, the first load of XMC-1s are on the boat, we'll be contacting the people on the list shortly" How about that? No offense, but that is naive. Am I so naive as you thinking? Or perhaps your reaction is caused only by the word "hope" I understand that today hope is synonymous of naivety but correct me if I am wrong, hoping is one of the many human characters, and not always unnecessary. No offense, but don't be so sad. Ho sorry, you shouldn't love the smileys, maybe it's a kind of naive expression.
