I have been kind of vocal on this issue. I am disappointed that there is no communication whatsoever and I think that it is wrong. I say that because this processor was promised to be shipped last fall and certainly in early in 2013 and of course neither has happened. There are many who want to stick with Emotiva like me who are waiting for "something" to be said so they can form and make an intelligent decision. If the XMC-1 is mired in technology issues and is a long way off, say so. At least then those who are waiting can make up their minds and do what they feel is right for their personal situation. I'd hate to go buy something else and in a month or two see that the XMC-1 is ready to be shipped. As I said earlier, I'm not looking for a ship date, just an update. I think we are owed that and thats not too much to ask in my view.. My answer is MOVE ON as Big Dan has said MANY times. You have spent quite a few dollars on EMOTIVA gear and should NOT feel bad for purchasing another Processor.Buying another manufactures unit should NOT make you any less of drinking BLUE kool aid.'

I have a problem with the statement We are Owed that... Listen we are not owed anything. Big Dan runs his business as he sees fit. We are consumers. We may want information, but we are not owed a darn thing. Emotiva is a business that sells product when it is available. We are consumers who may or may not buy the product. Simple as that. We don't owe Emotiva anything and visa versa.
Fact of the matter is Emotiva used to be more transparent. They got hit over the head a few too many times for missing dates and not meeting expectations...
HT processors are very complicated beasts. Integrating TACT is probably not the easiest either. That plus it has to be darn near perfect or people will revolt.
I have seen development of Pre-Pros take down a couple of companies because they become money pits... See Acurus and B&K. How would you feel if you bought a $6k or $7k processor that wasn't quite finished yet and before you got your free upgrade the company went out of business? See B&K Ref 70 processor.
Dan has said many times. It will be done when it is done. He wants it to be done as soon as it can be. He is personally OK if you have waited to long and decide to go elsewhere.
These threads only work to make Emotiva more secluded and share less.
Good Luck to all in their decisions.

In normal context you're absolutely right Brubacca, but let me remember that Emotiva has raise the expectation them-self with the XMC-1 web page "coming soon" statement and the pre-order list for far more then a year now and at the last Emofest big Dan speech to every-bodies Emotiva will release the unit around the Christmas Holiday or in the debut of 2013.
So, I think Emotiva have some obligation now.

Let me clarify, I don't want to pressurize Emotiva to release an unready product, I will wait for it any way. Like many other customers, I just want to know what happen and what is the new expecting release date.
Am I too demanding?

Soon is a relative term.
I mean, I am 34 years old. I will die of old age *sooner* than the Sun will go super nova or if you want to go really long term sooner than Justin Bieber will release a decent song.
Can't we all just hug and get a long?

These threads only work to make Emotiva more secluded and share less. Good Luck to all in their decisions. Well I do not agree. Myself and many others have been loyal customers of Emotiva and as a loyal customer I expect some sort of communication seeing that I based many of my buying decisions on information given to me last year that I thought was correct. You forget that Dan said this product would ship by Q3 2012. He said that. All I want is an update. In my view something must be really wrong seeing that I looked at a working prototype last summer in Franklin. I believe in the March podcast it was revealed that everyone had "signed off" on the project and production meetings were next.... It's not like this is some clandestine project. Its been much ballyhooed for several years... You can't have it both ways... From January 2012: Hi everyone,
Well, it's the end of the month and at long last we are ready to officially unveil the new and improved XMC-1 in all of its glory!
The XMC-1 is going to be a phenomenal product and I believe you will find its features and capabilities exceed your expectations on all counts!
Lonnie and I are very pleased with the progress of the new unit and the way it is turning out. I must tell you that this product represents the work of a very talented design and development team. I'm just the circus master, and the real credit goes to my team. It goes without saying the the entire Emotiva team has made this and all other Emotiva product a reality and helped take Emotiva to it's current position, but as it relates to this particular project, I must pause and recognize some very special people who are at the heart of this effort.
In particular Cathy and I want to personally thank Lonnie Vaughn for his unwavering support and tireless effort (and his incredible product knowledge and engineering savvy) over these many years we've worked together. Ray Dennison our senior engineering manager and DSP guru for his steady hand at the helm of this project. Eric Tchonfene' our talented young digital systems engineer; he keeps our thinking up to date and let's us old farts know whats' really happening in the world of digital goodies!!
To my good friend and mentor John Lentz, thank you for opening doors for me that would have otherwise been closed. And thank you for opening my eyes to the possibilities all around us!
Also, I must thank another very important individual whom we are privileged to be working with; Dr. Radomir Bozovic of Tact Audio. To say we are privileged to be associated with this gentleman, his company, and his technology is an understatement. Wow!
And most of all I'd like to thank you, my fantastic friends and clients for your unwavering support in Emotiva and for keeping the faith with us as we strive to do something very special in the world of audio.
I hope you find our efforts satisfactory.
Here you go!

So, I think Emotiva have some obligation now. That is exactly the point. Raising high expectation needs a follow up. Best for Emotiva would be not to talk at all of product they are working on. However in regards to the XMC-1 that is to late for that now. And in this case, they have an obligation towards customers since this is a 5 years ongoing story with order list and so on.

Well I take a pragmatic approach. As soon as something with the following specifications will hit the market I'll buy it whether it is from Emotiva or an other brand: * Good and tweakable room correction system * 4 HDMI inputs * Balanced outputs * Preferably no video processing and no analogue video inputs * Height of the unit less than 20 cm, preferably < 15 cm * Superb audio quality * cheaper than 3.000 Euro
Until now I didn't found anything that matches these requirements so I'm waiting....

I understand everyone's point of view on this. I really do. There is a lot of frustration. I hope they release it soon.

Wait a minute here guys. I think it's a little disingenuous to quote a post from Big Dan from January 2012, without also posting what he said in Nov of that same year. You want an update, I think it was pretty clear from his last post (at least I think it was his last post on it) that he was done talking/speculating on XMC-1 because he can't win either way. I've quoted it below: Hi guy's, I don't know what to tell you, besides the truth. We are nearly complete, but we are not done. I am not sure when exactly the magic day will be. I've estimated based on the teams advice, but we have missed. This ends up disappointing you, and we spend a lot of time doing fire control. The XMC-1 will be ready when it's ready, which we believe will be soon. You've seen it working. We/ve shown you the unit is for real inside and out. But, I cannot commit to an exact date until it is on the line and ready for shipment. So, if you can't wait, please buy something else. How many times must I fall on my sword to make you feel better? Should I pull the page and go dark until it is ready to ship? Maybe this is the better path. Let me know if this is what you prefer. I'm sorry if we are letting any of you down, but this is a very complex product an it must be correct. End of story. I can't apologize any more. Peace out, Big Dan

Peace out, Big Dan I have been following this processor for some time and it just seems it is more of the same... I can appreciate your position but the quote that you are using where Dan mentions that it should be ready soon is already over 6 months old and we still have no idea when it will ship or for that matter go into production.

The best advice I can give is buy what you need now (even used!) and enjoy your system. If and when the XMC arrives, we can then discuss options, but when I read posts of people not even using gear while waiting for this to appear just makes me shake my head in wonderment.
Get on with your lives.
Nothing here to see.

He was pretty clear he's done with the interim updates, because he can't win either way. He told people he was fine with them moving on. Yes...that was six months ago. But why are people shocked/angry Big Dan hasnt provided an update in 6 months...when he said 6 months ago he wasn't going to update anyone anymore?!?!?! I really don't get it, guys. Explain the logic to me, please. Unless he changes his new policy back to discussing products in development, I suspect the next time he talks XMC will be when its in production and he can tell people when it will begin shipping. Folks, it's a friggin pre/pro. It's not the end of the world. If you don't like the silence or lack of a ship date, then take Dan's advice and move on. It really IS that simple.
