Welcome, Mamba24! That's a fine system you've put together. Be sure to try to make it to Emofest this year. St Louis isn't that far away.

Hello everyone, I'm not new to the lounge but I just moved from sunny Southern California (Orange County) to High Humidity, severe thunderstorms, tornando warning St. Louis, Mo. The question I get asked a lot is WHY? Long story but it has to do with work. So I'm new to the area, any lounge members in St. Louis? Here's my setup, I have an UMC-200, XPR-2 AND XPR-5, Oppo 103, Martin Logan speakers, Ethos for fronts, Stage X for center, 4 Motion 15's as rears and a Descent i subwoofer. It sounds incredible. (at least it does to me) Well, I hope to hear from some lounge members who are here in St Louis, if you're not, still send a shout out and lets talk gear. See ya Mamba24 Welcome to the lounge! Nice gear you have, too. So... my question for you has nothing to do with your gear, though. I'm just curious, how do you like your new environment (I realize the weather leaves something to be desired) - how does it compare to So Cal? I'm in So Cal. I get sick and tired of how crowded it is plus living in a nutcase state like California is sometimes trying but then people will tell you it's bad all over. So I'm wondering what your experience has been like with your change of scenery.

So I'm wondering what your experience has been like with your change of scenery. Well, it is bad everywhere but I will say this, I miss California A LOT!!!! People here are much nicer and housing is cheaper but it is nothing like California. I stand out here obviously and everyone always ask me where I'm from and when I tell them California, They always say the same thing, WHY did you leave California for this!! LOL!!! There is a lot more to do in California than here and everything here is old, this is an old city. Crime is pretty high here in the city but I'm in the south part of St. Louis (the nice part) Believe it or not, I have been advised to buy a gun and get a carry and conceal license for when I venture out to the Downtown area. We'll see. I just drove through the north and east side of St Louis (the bad part of St Louis) and it is absolutely worse and uglier than Compton and South Central Los Angeles or East L.A. There are abandon homes and business and only projects with no businesses around. It was ugly and scary. My experience here though has been pleasant and everyone is nice but it is definitely not California, especially Orange County where I lived. I miss it!! Thanks for your impressions. I guess everywhere has it's good and bad points. It's sad to have so many abandoned homes and businesses. Myself I don't care much for Orange County. To me it seems like everything is made of Lego down there, haha..

I live in Columbia which is about 2 hours away. Your observations are spot on with Missouri. The weather is always random here, especially this time of year.
St. Louis is a mixed bag depending on where you are at. There are some really nice areas and some that leave much to be desired. Are you in the city or one of the suburbs?

Born and raised in the St. Louis area. Just moved to 10-OC almost 9 years ago. I still make it back several times a year.
Welcome to the Lounge.
