Hi – I’m an aging, near-retirement bureaucrat. It’s been 40-plus years since this then-college junior bought a circa-1961 H.H. Scott 222b , 15-watts per channel, integrated amplifier and matched it up with a pair of no-name speakers and an Acoustic Research turntable.
In the intervening four decades, I have owned and enjoyed equipment from McIntosh, Marantz, Apt Holman, Shure, SME, Technics, Harmon Kardon, Stax , Sennheiser, Grado, Rotel, Audio Research, Threshold, Adcom, NAD, IMF, Pro-Ac, Alesis and more.
Today, I am fortunate to own three outstanding systems. Pride of place goes to the living room, where an Emotiva XPS-1 preamp controls a Quad 606 amplifier powering a pair of Quad ESL-63 electrostats (God’s speakers), and a BGW pro amp powering the matching Gradient SW-63 subwoofers. The sources are a Oppo 105 and a Mac Mini with LaCie hard drives containing some 5000 classical CDs.
I am delighted to have found the Emotiva community. Friendliness, civility and a willingness to help seem to prevail here .
