Just wanted to put out a hello to all the forum members. My name is Kris Deering, I've been a HT, movie and music junkie my entire life (pretty much literally) and continue to seek help to this day. I've been around the Emotiva brand since its days with the infamous AV123 and currently have been enjoying some outstanding amps and a preamp from Dan and company in my own room. Recently I swapped out some great Parasound Halo gear for some XPR-1 monos and a XPA-2 second gen amp. I'm also loving the new XSP-1. I hope to become more involved in this community and have the chance to meet some of you. Anyone in the Seattle/Washington state area are more than welcome to get hold of me, I try and open my theater and home to all in this hobby of ours and get them involved with others that share this passion.

Hi Kris. Welcome to the lounge. Stay awhile and get to know us! I see you are an editor and reviewer at S&V. I have probably read some of your articles. Good to have you here.

Thanks for the comments all! For those in my area I am going to be hosting a get together next month at my home. Is there a forum on here good for getting the word out?

Oops, didn't notice that the profile doesn't show area! I live just outside of Seattle on the Olympic Peninsula. I'll be hosting a GTG on the 17th starting at 10AM and going until everyone decides to leave. Will have at least two seperate setups rolling and food and beverages.

Too bad I'm not in the Seattle area, or I'd love to come around and see the HT! (I'm in the Twin Cities). But hey - you'll love those XPR amps. The Parasound Halos are wonderful too of course, but I really like my XPR-5 and don't think I've 'clipped' since having it (even though my center speaker is a real 'power pig' - despite its "92db" sensitivity rating! ). Maybe post some photos of your HT? Welcome aboard!

Here are some pics taken of the main room a couple months ago. The Halo amps and preamp have since been replaced with the XPRs, XPA-2 and XPS. I will have new pics shortly: I'll have more pics soon. Since these pictures were taken I've added quite a bit to the room including new subs, different video processor and the Emo gear. Good times. By the time the new pictures are taken I may even have a completely different speaker setup!! Getting some Legacy Audio Focus SE's, a Marquis center and Phantom surrounds to demo in another week. Should be fun.

Very cool room Kris. I like it a lot!
The Parasound Halo amps are considered to be great amplifiers. If you don't mind me asking, what prompted you to move to Emotiva gear, and how does it compare to the Parasound kit you are replacing?

A really nice HT! But it looks like a fairly large room for only three seating positions(?). Or is the photo blocking another row I can't see? If Mrs. Mad Norseman would let me (yeah right...), I'd drag out the dark paint and black out blinds (don't want those German He 111 bomber's prowling around overhead to see any light! ), and add the extra speakers,...maybe in time? Kris, more photos when you get the chance - but that's a really nice & comfortable looking theater you have there! (I like 'The Beatles' collection box there on the side too, this man has good taste as well! : .

I had to brighten up the picture to see the surrounds, the rear acoustic panels, and the second row of seats (they look to be on a small platform). Do the lights auto dim when the movies start?
