Question concerning the stealth series; I'm quite interested in these speakers, ever since I trialled a set of Adam F5's and the glorious ribbon tweeter I can't go back to my paradigm monitor 7's (which now seem harsh in the highs and a little muddy in the mids) Anyway, I'm very attracted to the stealth 8 due to the size of the woofer, the tweeter (bigger than that found in the Adam F or the AX series), the bass extension, and the shear power of the amps. Price point is also very nice. But the Adam F series has a "standby" mode which turns on the speaker within 1 second of receiving a signal and this is a feature I would love to have on the Stealth. Anyway, since that feature isn't there, is there something I can do / buy that gives me the same effect with the stealth? My setup would be as follows: computer ==> DAC (either my current Motu or maybe the DC-1 in the future) ==> stealth's I don't want to put anything else in the chain other than some sort of triggering mechanism if necessary. I have a USB controlled power bar which can turn on / off a plug when computer turns on / off, would this work? Essentially it's like pulling the power cable out of the wall while they are still powered on, not sure if that is an issue... there are power switches on the back of the stealths, is that switch essentially interrupting the mains power, or is it an electronic switch of some sort? If it is just main's power that the switch is cutting out, then I can't see any difference between using that switch and pulling the plug out (or rather using my usb controlled power bar)? Any ideas, comments?

Good point. Is the only on/off the big switch on the back? That presents an issue in the install I'm contemplating. All three would be in alcoves in the wall, behind the screen (one would be mounted in a spot that its not easy for an adult to climb to...its behind the HVAC).

Yes, as far as I can see there is only the one switch on the back.

I love auto on features and wish that emo would have them on more of their products. Assuming the products draw much power when idle.
Both my mini-x and Ips-1 have auto on. The IPS-1, is very cool in that it is per channel.

Belkin Conserve Smart AV Energy Saving Power Strip Yes, that's basically the same as my usb controller power bar. It has the same effect on the speakers as if you were to manually pull out the power cord while it is powered on...

Belkin Conserve Smart AV Energy Saving Power Strip You just have to make sure that it is sensitive enough to detect the current change from the "trigger" device. I found that the Apple TV and XDA-1 didn't have enough change, and/or they were both under the trigger level at all times.

just unpacked my Airmotiv 4's at work. No auto-on either. Just a hard switch at the rear.

I had hopes for that to work with a Emotiva DAC and powered monitor's. I have my entire home theater systems, desktop pc and my Technics receiver for my pc audio system plugged into one power strip. That power strip is plunged into a wall outlet that has a wall switch I use to kill power to everything everytime I leave my house. The money I save on electricity is going to pay for my new Emotiva tube gear and after that a new Emotiva desktop system.

Any ideas, comments? To copperpipe and PGT: I have the Stealth 8's in my set up and they are not accessible either, but what I have done is to use a Panamax M4315 PRO unit. I plug my Stealth's into it and I can control them (power on/off) through remote control. I am using an iPad running iRule. It works great. The downside is that it is not a cheap fix. Retails around $350, but you can find deals if you search and wait on eBay. That's how I got mine. This has been a perfect solution for my set up as I needed total remote capability. Hope this helps.
