Looks like this will be a great valentine's day for many... maybe one of the best ever. I see lots of extra jewelry being purchased to make up for XMC-1s arriving. Makes me think of this: www.youtube.com/watch?v=co9qBme4Dgk

Is it time to start saving the other 60% yet. I've saved it and spent it 5 times now. Just spent $1,300 on a couple of subs. So are you going to keep us in suspense about the new subs? What about your 4 JBL subs?

Should have paid for it when the AUD was above parity! We are losing every day.

Should have paid for it when the AUD was above parity! We are losing every day. I feel your pain. The Australian dollar was almost US$1.10 but is now about US$0.88. Dave.

With a little extra push I should have it saved in full for the third time by Feb 14th. Although I have to admit that saving for the XMC while having delays of it's release has led to some great purchases. The first time the XMC fund was spent on an XPR-2 and the second time it helped kick start a theater remodel. So now I have a great amp and an even better room to enjoy my XMC-1.

Doing FW upgrades on the XMC-1 is going to be very easy... very much like updating the FW on your Oppo 103/105. With the Oppo 93 firmware is downloaded directly through the network connection with no computer or USB stick required. Have they changed this with 103/105? I can't imagine that downloading a file, transferring to USB, and plugging it into the device could be easier than the direct method, but I'll reserve judgement until I see the XMC process work.

The 103 as with the 93 can be done via either method (not to mention the disc method). It was the thumb drive method I'm sure RR was comparing to. That's also the method I use and it's very easy.

I have got to save my pennies too. I spent my up-grade money on my wife for her Christmas presents. So she now believes me when I say I love her more than my home theater. She is a great wife told me the screen could have been bigger when we installed the 65 inch Panasonic Plasma. Now considering the 96inch 21x9 as a replacement.

Geebo, you are absolutely correct. The USB memory stick will be the primary means of performing FW upgrades on the XMC-1. If memory serves me, during Emofest 2012 Lonnie said that the XMC-1 could be upgraded with either the RJ45 Ethernet connection or via the USB memory stick. Shortly afterwards, Lonnie said that many Lounge members were asking for the USB stick as they did not have ethernet connected to their audio/video system and they had no intention of running RJ-45 wires to it. At that time, Lonnie said that the XMC-1 had the functionality to use both ways, but they would probably only have the USB upgrade method active upon shipping. Only Emotiva knows if or when the Ethernet method would be enabled. I don't know if Lonnie has changed his mind since then (Sept 2012) but if there was sufficient demand Emotiva could add the code to enable FW upgrades via Ethernet. The memory stick methodology is a very simple upgrade method and that if any of the XMC-1 owners did not own a computer Emotiva would be willing to ship them the latest FW upgrade on a USB memory stick. I guess we will find out in about three weeks.

I can tell you this much, I am pretty dang excited about a solid room correction solution. I don't know much about Dirac, but what I am reading I like.

I guess we will find out in about three weeks. I can see the USB advantage for those without network connections, I have all my networkable gear hard wired and do firmware updates that way. I don't really like digging behind my stuff, but a USB extension like Oppo includes would solve that. Hopefully there won't be a problem leaving a USB cable plugged in ... as you say we'll know soon
