So we can enjoy even more HDMI related issues? Well said. There are too many already. As I said before, HDMI issues are not exclusive to Emotiva branded equipment. So this really applies to everyone and anything with a HDMI port. ...can you tell I hate HDMI even though virtually everything I currently own has one? We should have stuck with DVI and handled MCPCM via firewire while only having the player decode any dolby or DTS encoding. Why pay for a licence twice? (player and AVP/AVR) No wonder these companies are doing well.

I have to say it makes perfect sense. If it works for you, I cannot fault you in the slightest. Can't fault me? Wow, I'll have to tell my wife that!!! She'll probably make me come back here and type a big list for you. A HUGE list!!! Bottom line, when it comes to a pre-amp/processor/switcher, I want my cake and eat it too. Translation: connections , connections and more connections. I should have said I can't fault you for that. Whatever is between you and your wife is none of my business!

I don't know, but I do suspect that the legacy inputs caused some of the many problems of the UMC-1. By being only a HDMI switcher, a lot of those problems are avoided in the new models. I certainly don't need them. HDMI causes it's own problems, well really it's DRM.

Too true, indeed! Most of the things that people blame on "HDMI" are really caused by handshake issues that are rooted in the functioning of HDCP.

Anyone gotten their email? Perhaps those have missed their target date as well.

Now this is interesting. Could you post a link where the "superiority of Dirac's approach " was shown? Hi markusv2, I think that the thread of one of your members that Mark is referring to could be the following one: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/33047/thoughts-on-audyssey-multeq-diracI'll be pleased to be back when you will receive your units and it will be possible to discuss your hands on experience and results :-) Flavio I don't think Markusv2 will be buying any units but that won't stop him from commenting about them, though. So you will probably be hearing from him.

Hope the XMC-1 will support user adjustable target curves and not just one or two predetermined curves like Audyssey.

You bring up a valid point, you do have a lot of sources with which you would like to use analog inputs. Choice is always important. Looking at the back panel of the XMC-1 currently on the site, there isn't enough real estate to fit more inputs. They'd need to increase it to a 4 RU size. Have you considered a stereo pre-amp or using the digital (non HDMI) outputs from your equipment? I can't say about your CD players but I am pretty certain the DAC implementation in the XMC-1 will be superior to your DirecTV box. I *ahem* may be able to offer a good deal on a 1 year old XSP-1 soon. I am still trying to convince myself NOT to buy the Gen2 model but not doing a very good job of it... If they remove some labels they could fit upwards of twelve HDMI connections on the back using the current spacing. There's no reason to go to a larger unit. In fact I recall seeing a photo of a prototype that had significantly more HDMI inputs than what is being used at one time.

Why would you need 6 analog stereo inputs?
You must have a reel to reel, cassette player, turntable, Wii, fancy CD player and a DAT without TOS/link then.
LOL
Other than a turntable what other source do you own that requires a consumer line level input?
Now HDMI on the other hand...
Set-top box, DVD player with SACD support, Bluray player, Xbox etc, HTPC, Camcorder, Tivo and a Roku.
HEY!
All my HDMI are used up but I just got a new Playstation 4!!!

I agree with you both. I need 8 HDMI and 6 analog inputs.

Got my e-mail, but will need to pass it up (no funds available for at least another 6 months). Someone else will get my spot...

That doesn't make any sense.
You do realize that a surround sound processor or AVR needs a proper digital signal in order to decode and process the audio portion from your transport properly?
Why would you take a digital source, convert it to analog only to have it reconverted back to digital for processing and again a final conversion back to analog?
You do realize this breaks a large portion of the audio processing feature set of most AVR/pres right?
You want the signal to be digital down your entire transport chain until it hits your preamp DACs!
The only reason why you need analog inputs is for matrixed audio switching to second zone or for instances like your recorder where the AVR/pro doesn't have secondary audio processing on the HDMI input section to feed TWO I2S streams into the DSP for processing.
The latest offerings from Yamaha do this.
