Did anyone else take a view on the special "The Night That Changed America" I thought the show was done very well and the artists that covered their songs did an excellent job especially Maroon 5. I do wish McCartney chose different songs to perform....not the usually "Hey Jude".

Yep, watched every minute. I agree that the McCartney set was predictable. The highlight for me was "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" by Jow Walsh, Gary Clark Jr., with Dave Grohl beatin the heck out of the drums. Joe is a big favoite of mine and I love Gary's stuff too.
I Really loved the house band as well....Frampton, Lukather, Was....killer!

I missed it, got caught up in the Olympics and forgot to switch channels. I heard they are repeating it tonight so if you also missed it we get another chance.

It was also the first time Paul and Ringo played Hey Jude together before a live audience with Ringo on the drums, Paul on the piano and with John and George in everyone's heart. That made it so special! Hey Jude is the Beatles signature song. Only they could get away with several minutes of na na na na na na na...!

I'd have to disagree, not all the artists were great. I recorded the show, but I did see a few performances: Keith Urban and John Mayer and Imagine Dragons get a thumbs up from me, while Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran certainly do not.
I believe it's being shown again tonight.

She obviously had to change the words from man to girl etc. Perhaps you were upset that she wasn't wearing a bikini?

I have it recorded on my HTPC and must admit I have not watched it all. What I did watch was "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performed by Joe Walsh and friends. Not only is this not one of my favorite Beatles song but there performance gave me goosebumps. Very well done! Joe's voice was in fine tune.

That version seems remixed.

I thought Ed Sheeran did fine...but was a very stripped down singer/songwriter version. At least he sang! Katy spent most of the song below her vocal range so it came across like she was trying to sound sultry. Awful in my opinion.

Watching now. So far so incredible!! God I love the Beatles. I wish I grew up in the 60's!!! I remember watching the original TV performance on the Ed Sullivan Show sitting on my father's knee. Some may not understand it, but I watched most of the 50th anniversary show with a lot of tears because so many things have happened in the last fifty years. What a flashback!

I remember watching the original show, and being P.O.d that all the girls in the audience were screaming and making it hard to hear the music.

I remember wanting the Hey Jude LP, but my mother wouldn't buy that "hippie" record. Several years later a girl friend of mine had it and after I told my story she gave it to me. For me that was "Instant Karma". I still have it plus a newer version.

......... What I did watch was "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" performed by Joe Walsh and friends. Not only is this not one of my favorite Beatles song .......... If you get a chance, listen to George Harrison's alternative version as on the Beatles Love DVD-Audio/hybrid CD album. Here's your chance, but the DVD-Audio is superb!

WMGGW done acoustically by George is beautiful. He emotes such pathos with it that completely changes the way you listen to it. It is much better than the "electric" version that came out on the album. It's my favorite cut on the Love DVD-A disc.

Saw the show last night, excellent! Some performances better than others but no clunkers in my book. I was in 7th grade and glued to the TV for the original Ed Sullivan performances, the show brought back many great memories of the time and friends who shared their love of the Beatles.
I also love the "Love" album, very creative work and a great addition to the Beatles collection.
