I was just curious if anybody has experience with speaker kits, for example linkDo they sound good? Can you compare them to anything? If I buy em for $419, are they comparable to a $1000 speaker? Or is it more just for the fun of assembling them yourself? Thanks.

I'm sure it's OK for the money but this is a better deal. www.hometheatershack.com/forums/creative-sound-solutions/71299-v2-speaker-upgrade-options.htmlAlso using PE cabs. creativesound.ca/details.php?model=V2MUCH MUCH BETTER DRIVERS That cheap metal tweeter wouldn't compare to CSS's LD22. BTW the LD22 is MADE IN CANADA EH! How about a V2 in gloss black curved cabs? $250 for the cabs and the kit is $300 or so depending on the options.

They are fun to build and in general cheaper to build than buy at any given quality level. However, they have virtually NO resale value. Who wants them? NOBODY really... If you want to build them and use them 'til you die, go for it. If you like changing gear and enjoying different things in this hobby, better to stick with name brands. That said, every serious audiophile should build a pair or two sometime during their life. Just plan on giving them away to someone you care for. My first pair of custom speakers (1978) are still in use by one of my cousins. The woofs and mids have been re-coned once and the tweets were replaced once. But they are still fairly impressive speakers to listen to. I was 16 when I built them. Peace

Peace I agree 100%, you may get some of the money out of the raw drivers but as far as most any DIY goes, it's for your own enjoyment, not re-sale ability.
