The other option, if you can find it are the PA45-12 & PA45-18. These were great little units with much better connection options. You could either connect each channel individually, or connect them to a main bus.
This bus is very convenient if you want to have say 6 speakers in a room, as they can be connected to the bus inputs rather than having to have a bunch of Y cables to connect all three.

How many speakers are you looking to drive... the UPA700 certainly would drive them... but might be overkill in terms of cost for the MP speakers.

If you can find a PA45-18 as mentioned, that would be sufficient. Otherwise two UPA 700 would make your whole house sing.

It could work, but it isn't ideal for this type of situation. As GreenKiwi has stated you would have to use a bunch of "Y" splitters and that is a bit of a wiring mess. Getting an amp designed for multizone audio would be much easier. You might check around eBay to see if there are any Sherbourn amps. There seems to be a lot of inventory popping up there.
If don't go this route, you could get a beefy 2 channel amp and connect all of the speakers to it using impedance matching volume controls. Make sure that you set them to 8 pairs so that it doesn't damage the amp.

As you can see from my signature I am a whole house audio fan. 1. I would NOT recommend the OSD or Monoprice Volume controls. They are NOT reliable. I recommend using HTD www.htd.com/Products/Volume-Controls2. Since you are using output from a second zone out of a pre-amp, my suggestion would be a dedicated whole house audio amp because it will allow you to feed the R&L outputs from your zone 2 to power all of the zones. pdaddy was selling one for $499 + shipping: emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/36374/12-18-channel-amplifiersHave fun..

Same thread mentioned above. I already scooped that one up I can confirm it is a great amp for multi zone audio, though!

Wow, now I get it...sorry for the mental lapse. The wiring would be a giant mess, I just assumed one input would drive all the channels

What do you guys think of this? UPA-200 driven into an Aton DLA4 or Aton DLA6? (I would be using only one splitter, so not that hairy of an install) www.atonhome.com/DLA4Room.htmlor www.atonhome.com/DLA6Room.htmlI think would be a cool route because I can control the Aton speaker selector and volume controls through IRule. I won't have to hook up volume controls in each zone, and I would pickup IPad control. How much wattage do you think I'll get to each speaker? assuming UPA-200 into a DLA-4 feeding 4 zones and 8 speakers assuming UPA-200 into a DLA-6 feeding 6 zones and 12 speakers As a side note, I am building up a rack and I'd like my equipment to look somewhat uniform. I plan on getting an XPA-5 to drive my theater.

That looks like a decent option and not too bad of a price.

I think stepping back that it might be worth thinking about how you and others are going to control and use the system. My comment, from having set one up at home is that having multiple points of control are really frustrating. People aren't going to want to have to switch between apps to do it. If you are using iRule to control everything, including music selection, then that's fine. What music sources are you planning on using? My current solution is using iTunes and AirPlay. This actually works reasonably well and with a Rocki ( www.myrocki.com/ ) you can get everything done for $50/zone for delivery and control. It basically has a 3.5mm stereo jack to connect to your amp. You could then have various different things playing to different zones if you wanted and it's all controllable via the iOS remote app. If you can put things in a closet, you could go with a small stereo amp and Rocki for each zone and end up with $200 (rocki) + $300 (amps) total. These devices are also able to simply stream from sources like Pandora and Spotify (I don't know if spotify is supported yet), but it would definitely be one solution that I would be considering.

At that price I would rather go into a real whole house audio setup using the monoprice whole house audio:http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=109&cp_id=10918&cs_id=1091801&p_id=10761&seq=1&format=2 or go a little more and buy this from HTD: www.htd.com/Products/mid-level-whole-house-audioHave fun

It looks great to have volume controls in each room. I'm assuming those are all controlling the volume at the amp so you could use that or I rule?

Sonos does it all so easy. I now have 7 zones and I love it. Independent volume and source in every location, with access to internet radio, XM, my NAS, and multiple lines in to the various units.
And all controllable from any of our phones, tablets, and PC's.
Pricey? Yes. Worth it...heck yes...
