My front speakers are rated at (125watts/8ohm). I just want to know how Fusion's sound compare to UMC200. If they are sound so identical close enough that you can't tell which one is better than another, then in my opion I will definitely go with Fusion/XPA200 for more power in front and less cost. They have a similar processing board design.

Ok. Let's vote. The First 3 response the to thread and let me know which one you will choose between UMC200/UPA700 and Fusion 8100/XPA200 and I will take the advise and go ahead to order the combo without hesitation and rest my case keep asking what I should buy. Thank you very much for each of you in the lounge to share your ideals, suggestions to help each other how to upgrade the equipment to make our life more enjoyable. Most Respectfully to all.

As Francois mentioned above, Emotiva amps are rated with all channels driven eg; an XPA-5 is 200 WPC with 5 channels driven into 8 ohms. But they are capable of higher wattage with less channels eg; an XPA-5 is 275 WPC with 2 channels driven. Keeping in mind that an XPA-2 is rated at 300 WPC, 8 ohms, with 2 channels driven. Hence my view would be to use an XPA-7 with a UMC-200 for your 7.1 set up safe in knowledge that you will never need to upgrade the power amp. You might want to, but you will never need to. The multidimensional sound firmats, Atmos, Auro, DTS-HD etc will be ready for mass consumption about the time for upgrading the UMC-200. The XPA-7 will be there waiting, ready willing and able for whatever processor upgrade you choose.
Cheers Gary

Well, you're posting on an Emotiva forum, so not many people are going to say to keep the Pioneer. Those Elite receivers are pretty awesome and I love the efficiency of the digital amplification.
What none of the fanboys here looked in to was the efficiency of your speakers. It doesn't take much power to make 95.5dB speakers loud. It really doesn't. Also, all amps inside of their linear power range sound the same. It's hard to say exactly what the SC-85's ratings are with all channels drive (Emo does a great job of posting their actual numbers), but it should be tons to power your setup. Don't believe me? Go in to an AVR dealer where they have an Elite receiver hooked up and listen to it with highly sensitive speakers and loud. You'd have to go pretty high to get any clipping.
The power draw from the SC-85 would be a lot less than the Emotiva setup. It draws next to nothing at idle. If you do go the separates route, the UMC-200 or Outlaw 975 are your best bet paired with the UPA-700 you'd do pretty well though the power draw would be higher.

The Fusion 8100 is pretty much a UMC200/UPA700 combo. The power is pretty much the same and it seems very much like they're largely the same architecture. The details are a little fuzzy. I created a thread on the two in the Pre forum.
The real drawback of the 8100 from what I've read is the HDMI linking. Longer cables seem to have problems. Plenty of people run them through a wall so you use longer cables. HDMI issues are just a constant annoyance.
I don't think that anyone has really compared both. In terms of the XPA-2, do you really need that much power for 2 channel listening? Do you have low sensitivity? Moneywise, the 8100 alone is probably your best bet.

Music guru has posted his dilemma in several threads. My first fanboy response was "What are your speakers? What is your room size?"

I vote for UMC-200/UPA-700 combo, but you must decide by yourself and with your heart and desire, please don't let us decide for you. Plus, in the future you can always add a stereo amp XPA-? in the chain or even mono's
