In my family we own 12 Apple devices and not one of them has any U2 music on it. In iTunes on my MacMini it says "U2's new album is exclusively on iTunes. And it's a gift to you". Aside from the poor English (starting a sentence with "And" ) I don't have any issues. Cheers Gary

What bothers me is the idea that Apple has the power to manipulate my property without me knowing it. Ahh, but Apple still thinks it's their property, and you're just a licensee. The software definitely is their property. No different than movies or music. You only own the right to play it on the hardware you bought.

I believe the act of Apple providing a free U2 album goes deeper than any of us realize. Allow me to explain: U2 is the name of a band. U is the 21st letter in the alphabet, so substituting 21 for U we get (21)2. The product of these two numbers is 42. As everyone knows, 42 is "Answer to The Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything." Translating 42 into binary gives us 101010, which is the date of October 10, 2010. This date occurs on a Sunday, which already provides an undeniable link back to U2 in way of a popular song. (Sunday, Bloody Sunday). October 10, 2010 is/was a particularly significant day in Chinese culture (3x perfect 10s), and as you know, Apple has many manufacturing facilities in China. The apple is also considered "the forbidden fruit." Since there's a bite taken out of the Apple, it only means it's partially forbidden (not the full forbidden, you know). It's also forbidden to talk about Hitler or Nazism. Therefore, I have unequivocally proven that the decision made by Apple to give away a free U2 album corresponds to Godwin's Law, and that must mean one or both entities is Hitler. Or a Trojan Horse. I'll need to do more research...

I can relate to your point of view, although in my opinion Apple would be way down my list of entities to be concerned about. Of course you're familiar with the NSA issues, and you may or may not have read about the recent activity by Comcast relating to the use of Vidalia (TOR) by its users. If you're not familiar with that technology or the issues surrounding it I will try to find the source for you.
Cheers

You seriously need to take time and listen to more music No argument there, although my post was simply a tongue-in-cheek attempt at creating a "conspiracy." I've never created a conspiracy before. It was fun. I need to do that more often. Then maybe people will like me. Or whatever the opposite of "like me" is. BTW we also have 4 PC's in the family and they are the ones with the trogans I'm a systems administrator for a non-profit org. I also help out family, friends, and neighbors with electronic and computer issues (although some of those people only seem to talk to me when there's a problem ). I mention this factoid because I have yet to clean a malware-infested Mac. On the other hand, I've lost count of how many PCs I've cleaned over the years. Macs are not immune to malware (no matter what some people want to believe), but they are better at defending against common threats. Anyway, I haven't actually listened to Songs of Innocence yet. Which is strange because it was, like, a free album dude. Then again, I don't own--strike that--I haven't borrowed-for-a-limited-time-or-as-long-as-RIAA-wants-me-to-access-it any U2 music.
