Today in the Dutch newspapers the announcement of a new vinyl top 50. The translation from the original text: Vinyl is experiencing a comeback in ranking Netherlands gets another LP Top 50. That is a weekly chart that sales of vinyl records displays.
The list is an initiative of Foundation Vinyl50 and will be launched in Haarlem on Monday, October 13th. The LP Top 50 will be based on sales data from leading record stores in the Netherlands.
The "album list" as it is known for decades, until the introduction of the CD in 1986 actually an LP list. In the 90s, the old long-playing record, however, seemed to disappear completely, especially when the digital listening via the MP3 player was in attendance. Since fifteen years vinyl makes a remarkable comeback.
"Digital distribution and consumption of music is the year 2014 here to stay and is in principle based on convenience, accessibility and relative speed, but can never be the only means of transport," says founder Peter Funcke. "Vinyl in all its aspects (from production to consumption) for more sustainability in the broadest sense of the word.
