Just had the electrician out today to run 2 20amp outlets to 2 20 amp breakers. Come home to find despite this my Emotiva power cord does not fit. WTF? Am I missing something here? Do I need to buy a different power cord or have the electrician out to place different outlets??

Did he wire a 20A outlet or a 15A outlet? if it's 20A it will fit.

Guess that's it, must have used 15A outlet yet wired it as 20a and also to 20a breaker. Good thing he is coming back Monday for other projects.

If it doesn't fit, that's the only explanation I can think of. It's actually not uncommon, but if you asked for a 20A circuit specifically, I'd think that he would have used a 20A outlet. He probably just used what he hand on hand (I've heard an acronym that electricians sometimes use - installing "WOTT" - What's on the truck) The XPR-* plug should be a NEMA 5-20P:
