For me it's the 70's. I like the 60's as well. 80's was good but for the most part except for some artists, then it went downhill from there.

60's work for me. Spent an hour showing the little one YouTube videos of James Brown , Smokey, Temptations, 4 Tops, Supremes this past weekend. We laughed so hard. She really enjoyed it.

Sometimes it just doesn't line up on an even boundary.
I would say '65-'75 was the most prolific 10 years of RR!

My musical tastes were formed in the 70's. High school and college in the 80's was also id forming. I like music from almost every decade but could only pick 1.

I had to choose the 90's as those were my glory days (high school). So many one hit wonders...

This was tough, but I went with the 70's. There was some of the best rock of so many forms (metal, glam rock, prog rock, pop rock, etc.), jazz fusion, punk/alternative started out, great popular music, and classic blues and classic country kept on going strong...overall a great era. As Chuck says, though, '65-'75 was indeed a prolific time. Then again, the early 80's signaled a major change also that led to the major change of the early 90's. And, a lot of the stuff my kids listen to know is pretty darn good...I really loved the Bastille concert with my son. OK, can I choose "all of the above"?

70s for me but the 60s would be a close second.

For me, the greatest decade of music was the 70's! The best rock, the best country, the best jazz, etc. The worse decade for music? Right now... Nothing but "me-too" groups put together by producers who think they have discovered the new great sound. The problem is, the other 10 groups he/she put together sound almost exactly the same. With few exceptions, the music industry is stagnating in a pool of sameness. Good thing there is tons of great 70's music to listen to!

My initial reaction to the question was it will be based off your high school years. The formula would be year of graduation plus or minus 5. So for me it would be 1977-1987. Give or take a few.

70s and 80s for me. Well before the Autotune machine was created. Worst invention ever for music IMHO.

I'm totally 90's as well, Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Radiohead, Beck......yada yada but as of late there is always good stuff coming out, just not the mainstream crap, my local college station plays mostly Canadian and some US indie/rock stuff that is downright awesome

From about mid-80's to about mid-90's for me. While I like songs from outside of those years, those were the years where the music "spoke" to me. Now the music speaks, but I don't know what it's saying... but the kids like it.

The 70's is where everything became possible. To me it defines what we have been doing since.

I'd say it was about 1964 to 1975 actually. No doubt this is easily the most prolific 10 years of Rock 'N Roll. It's the worst years that's up for debate. For me it's now, the last 10 years.

I find that most normal folks have their "locked on musical years" between about 12-13 to about 25. For those normal people it's that music that tends to always be their favorite for the rest of time. I'm far from normal. (I know I know that's putting one out there for a royal burn ) I was born about 15 years late really. But I can enjoy all kinds of music. If my rule held true for me, 80's and 90's would be my favorite. I can dig the 90's once grunge kicked in, but for the most part anything in the 80's after about '83 is mostly synth crap. Of course there are exceptions, but the pop crap that was the 80's really sucks to me. I should have loved it like no other, but it was the opposite. And I don't even want to start talking about video's. The only decade that sucks harder is the last 10 years. Again, exceptions for sure, most of the median pop stuff really sucks IMO.
