The XMR-1 will have to have something for my home theater that the XMC-1 doesn't already/or will provide. While Dolby Atmos/DTS: X are advancement features in the home theater world, they are just not ever going to be implemented in the home that I'm currently in, but one never knows whether a new house will be in my future. Having said that, these types of features will definitely win over the niche customer that will implement these, so it looks like Big Dan and Company will have something for everyone, whether the upcoming entry level processor, the XMC-1 or the upper level processor XMR-1. Just like Dave, I have a 40% Upgrade Card that is just waiting for the right opportunity.

I like the potential to use more channels in my theater, and I may or may not use them. But I am looking forward to Dirac Unison as a potential option.
If the XMR comes with a really awesome streaming system built in with a fantastic interface, that would also be very appealing. I find that a lot of streaming systems are fine at streaming but the interface is bad on many I have seen. I would love for the XMR to be able to find any media on my network and play it through an interface as nice as the Sonos. If it did, I would have one less PC and one less Sonos Connect in my house. And, if the 2 channel audio is good enough...a DC-1 would be gone also. That would be appealing!

OK, I'll bite. Did I miss a post or podcast from Dan about a new processor? Previous speculation was about a Reference line upgrade to the XMC-1 that we creatively titled an RMC-1. Nick, are you trying to mess with us, or is the XMR-1 different and soon to be reality???

And, if the 2 channel audio is good enough...a DC-1 would be gone also. That would be appealing! Mark +1. I haven't even gone down this road yet, but I will be in the future, and in the future this will probably be a must have. Thanks for mentioning it. He said 16 channels so that's one huge part of the puzzle I hadn't heard. Everything I've seen was speculation at 7.2.4 = 13 channels. That leaves 3 left over. Not sure what those 3 would be (maybe 3 front ceiling channels?), but it's clear Emotiva is bound to skip a step and go straight to state of the art. Very cool! All channels balanced also sets quite a high standard. For those of you looking for something small to fit in your rack, I think you can forget about it. This is going to be a big boy and I like it! Glad my wife likes 'em big too!!! Need smaller, buy the XMC-1 or the UMC-3 (name made up for discussion purposes). As anyone who has read my many posts about the XMC-1, my only drawback that I can come up with for myself and my system is not enough RCA analog inputs. I would like to see the RMC-1 keep everything the XMC-1 has input/output wise (including the 7.1 input and all the toslink/RCA digital inputs/ outputs), and then just add a bit more. I think (6) 2-channel RCA analog inputs is a nice number. While they are at it more than one 2 channel balanced XLR input would be great too. If the RMC-1 is to be a true legendary product, then I really don't want to see input/output skimping that might amount to another $50 - $100 in cost. Knowing we are getting 16 channels, it doesn't sound like any skimping will be going on. AWESOME. I think what many will consider the dumbest request in the grand scheme of things is the ability to dim and completely turn off ALL the front panel lights. From what I can remember I think you can do this on all the lights/screen/buttons on the XMC-1, EXCEPT the power button. It's my understanding that Emotiva wants this light on as a sort of safety thing so you know things are working properly when it's glowing blue. I can understand that, but at the same time, these units are going into many environments that are in fact dark lit home theater rooms, and during those times while watching a movie, many people find them distracting. I just want the option to at least get that power button down to a very dim level. Off would be best, but at the very least, super dim is something I'd like it to have. Um, oh, the other thing that seemed a bit odd about the XMC-1 was the inability to assign the output channels to bi-amp. The work around is to send the RCA output to one amp, and the XLR output to another. This works, but if the RMC-1 literally has 16 channels of output, then I would hope this ability to assign/configure the outputs for bi-amping would be included. I love the 16 channels, but I'm really not sure how many people would even use all those channels. I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting, and I'll add them to this if I come up with them. But so far this announcement from Dan is exciting. I've got my fingers crossed it all comes to fruition. All things aside, this RMC-1 sounds like it might be the perfect product for me. The XMC-1 is very close, and it's very tempting. But knowing there is an RMC-1 in the works, I think I'll just wait a bit before replacing my old dated receiver to see how things shake out.

With 16 channels and a 6-core CPU - can we PLEASE get the option of free channel mapping and active crossover capability? I would LOVE to be able to use the 16 preouts for a fully active 5.1 solution.

My 40% card value just went north!! Its its NOT for sale!! Hehe nice. Quick question, I know discounts cannot be combined such as the 40% upgrade and the 10% eclub but how about the 25% of Upgrade for Life and the 10% eclub? Is that possible? No intention to derail thread, One answer will suffice.

Maybe it's that Dirac Unison can use the extra channels? And Unison is supposed to be much better than Dirac Live. Also, 192kHz Dirac Live is available for the same price as the 48kHz version from Dirac. Will the newer processor be powerful enough to support 192kHz? I guess it would be.
Also, I guess the XMR-1 will support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP from the get-go.
If you want to future-proof your system, it seems the XMR-1 is the way to go.
That means people should hold off from the XMC-1 until they know the pricing for XMR-1. I wonder if that will be announced in March?

Let me clear up a couple of things... The XMR will be our top of the line unit for the moment. We have changed the line strategy a bit. The anticipated MSRP of the XMR-1 will be right at $5k. Remember, it's closet competitor is $20k. This is a very expensive product from a BOM and development standpoint. At $5k it's a bargain. The new 7.1 processor is the backbone of a new line of affordable products that will replace Ultra Series. BTW, it's 1RU tall and all of the new amplifiers are 1RU too!! This is going to be a great new line. We've re-thought pretty much everything. All made in Franklin TN USA! See, we've been busy!!

My 40% off card will justify flying to meet Dan personally to give him the card and take one of the xmr's off his hands for a sweet 3k.
Worst case my mrs will maybe have a company meet n greet in Nashville later this year so I'm going there one way or the other with the card. Hope it's going to be an Emofest on around the same time too
