In talking with tech support a couple weeks back, I was inquiring about any possibility of trade ins against the new RMC-1 purchase with current XMC-1 owners and it sounded like things were a long ways away from being released. At this point, I would be highly surprised if anything came out earlier than Q1 2018. That being said, we have a few clients that were thinking about upgrading to the RMC-1 when it came out, but given the issues that some have been having with the XMC-1 (EQ stops working, one HDMI port doesn't support Reference mode, etc), they are reluctant to drop $5K on an "upgrade". As custom installers and system designers, this is what concerns us the most as we are the ones making the recommendations when putting things together with real world budgets. So hopefully, by the time it is released the bugs and kinks will have been worked out to make a solid recommendation.

That Jim, he's a stand up guy😊 Actually, the MC-700 makes the 0s more 0 then 0 and the 1s more 1 than 1! It defies the laws of math. Like I said, he's a stand up guy

Just respect a person with enough integrity to buy a piece of equipment so as to provide an objective viewpoint as opposed to just throwing rhetoric with no actual knowledge of the product. I value that type of persons viewpoint.

But how does it compare to the old processor, details man? The 1s sound more like 1s and the 0s sound more like 0s? Thanks for the invite to listen, Jim! The 1's sounded great and the 0's sounded even better. But seriously, I thought it was a really nice unit. The only thing I like better with m UMC-1 is the fully configurable inputs (aka, the "virtual inputs"). Those were a UMC-1 delight, and I still wish all the Emo processors had them. It's the 1 thing I still don't like about my XMC-1 But sound-wise...great! Mark

Mark Love, love, LOVE the input setup on the UMC-1, and have missed it on both the UMC-200 and XMC-1. I've managed to mostly work around it for my purposes (which is mainly to be able to use and/or compare the variety of outputs that my HTPC offers - USB, a Xonar card with analog, optical, and coax, and HDMI (also on-board digital coax, but meh...). Also would be handy on my basement system, I have two XBoxen and use 2-channel analog out for RockSmith, whereas most games HDMI would be preferred... it feels quite kludgy and limiting to have to set up the inputs a certain way and cycle through them a certain way though, after being spoiled by the UMC-1's "infinitely configurable" input matrix. I will keep flogging this dead horse as long as it takes, lol!

Totally agree about finding workarounds and that while OK - I'd still rather have the UMC-1's infinitely configurable setup.

Seems as though this thread may be resurrected. 😎 That is one monster receiver. Saw pics of it this evening. Wow, $4k could buy a lot of separates though.

So this thing has amp section right? It uses Pascal amps to fit into the form factor rated at 250WPC x 11 channels!! This thread started back in 2015 and just goes to prove what masters Emotiva is at creating buzz about something that would not even be released for 2 more years. Hopefully, 2018 proves to be a year that produces tangible results for the masses and a viable trade in program for those that believed in the company since its' early days.

Well the thread for the XMC-1 started like 5 years before it was finally released to the public. So I would not hold my breath on this one either.
