In 1969 Time-Life released a set of LPs called The Swing Era. The whole set was over 20 LPs. These were not old recordings, rather recreations of the band leaders of that time, but with 1969 musicians.
The set was released on CD in 2000, but not currently available from Time-Life. I found the complete set on-line for between $4 and $6 per double CD.
I love Big Band music and this set is outstanding.

Chuck, I'm with you on big band and swing, I just wonder if the CDs are AAD or ADD.

The first example of this type of recording I can remember is Linda Ronstadt's albums with Nelsen Riddle in the early 80's. It's not quite Big Band or Swing, more like late 40's pop, but I love it when modern musicians and recording gear try to AUTHENTICALLY recapture vintage music. Thanks for the tip Chuck, I'll look for that CD.
