Kvart & Bolge Sommerliers and a Nobsound® Ms-10d Mkii

Updated 6/2/15 after swapping amps.

So I put together a little listening area in my basement. I bought the $299 Kvart & Bolge Sommerliers in Zebrawood and a 25 watt Nobsound integrated hybrid tube amp ($249 shipped free with prime on Amazon). So since both are new to me I cannot give particular credit to one over the other, but this setup sounds fantastic. The speakers only have a single 3 inch Neodymium Aluminum speaker and thus no crossover and are very inefficient at 84db sensitivity so they need more than a 10w amp to get decent volume. They rely on quarter wave acoustics to get some degree of bass, and note I mean SOME degree. When matched with the right amp, the bass is pretty decent, but a sub maybe needed for some musical tastes. So with those caveats I must say these little speakers are very accurate, natural and have a really decent soundstage. For $299 + shipping (just $20 for Georgia) they are a really special speaker for the right setting and use.

As for the amp, I like being able to connect via bluetooth with my phone or any one of my guests to listen to any music. You get two more input options for sources as well. I have only had about 5 hours on the amp so far so I know I am going to need to burn them tubes in a bit more and will still likely roll them later.

Update on the amp. It started cutting out a reasonable volumes. Sending back to Amazon. And so the search for an affordable and reliable tube/tube hybrid with 25+ watts continues.

Hithere Pdaddy, thanks so much for buying our speakers and I am so glad you like them. I am hurting a little over the perception that our bass might be enemic as most of our customers really love the speakers for their natural and low bass. I only know of two customers who are using a subwoofer with our speakers, one is you and the other is a Pipe organ builder. On our measurements we see a 10dB drop off as low as 40Hz. I was wondering if there is something wrong with either the bluetooth sender, or the relatively high output impedance of your amp. Would you be willing to try our speakers on a different amp?

Thanks for the insight. I was able to pick up an iDecco and that filled out the bass much more. I am much happy with what I am hearing now. These things image so well and just look fantastic.

Very glad we talked about it. Believe it or not, your review is actually getting a lot of people interested in our speakers. Would you mind taking the word anemic out of your review now that we have restored hemoglobin levels in the bass?
