33 hours of cook time on the Gumby and I think the midrange is coming more to life compared to the DC-1. A very slight increase in clarity.

You're going to have Chuckienut telling you to have your wife make a loud vocal noises during your listening so that your DBT test will be more accurate!

If it'd get 10 degrees cooler, I'd do some chicken & sausage gumbo, but the mood and the temperature have to be in synch...

Nice to see another Kef fan here on the lounge! I demoed both the LS 50 and the R300 and really liked both of them, it was a hard pick. Ultimately decided on the R300's since they have a little more bottom end and can handle higher volumes; they are also easier to drive (8 ohms vs 4 on the LS 50) and fit in with the rest of the R series line in case I want to run a full 5.1 setup with towers etc. But the LS50's are stunning too. Not sure why Kef doesn't get more love on this lounge. Hope you get many years enjoyment out of them!

Hard to drive yes with the ST-120 but my XPR-1's have plenty to give. ive never heard a set of monitors sound this large. Also, ive never had a set of high gloss black speakers and as i though, they reflect way too much light from the TV. Beautiful when the game isn't on, no light reflection, stunning actually with their gold cones. Believe it or not I really don't require that many db's with the sound of these. Max out what I need with these at 85 db's. Usually much less needed. Yes KEF should get more love but you have to hear them once to love them. Now, where are those Blade II's I ordered?? NOT! I wish!

Yup, the R300's are rated at 50 hz (+/- 3db) and the LS 50's to 80. (I think, IIRC). Basically they felt to me that they were just "a little bigger" all around; more depth, more presence, more dynamic headroom (they're a 3 way speaker) but still having that pin point accuracy and sound stage that the LS50's have. They (R300) cost more too, so there's that! Not trying to minimize your choice, I think the LS 50's are amazing; was just explaining how I arrived at a slightly different result. Totally agree on the power though; probably any amp from Emotiva can drive the LS 50's since they can all safely do 4 ohms, even my little mini-x's; but your xpr's probably make those guys sing The LS 50 have a higher WAF than the R300's. They look a little more ... elegant, I think that's the word I'm looking for. They have a certain "style" just sitting on a nice pair of stands, the R300's are a little more boxy.

Thanks for your insight and thoughts. This was my first step into higher quality monitors vs cheaper models. They have been surprising, so small with such a huge impact! Not sure what I'll do at this moment l

Ive repositioned the KEFs to point at me and cranked it to 85 db, I can hear the singers in the choir in Like a Prayer, Vogue sounded exceptional as well. Maybe not as wide but depth of field was there beautifully.
