Anyone else having issues with their trigger not turning on the amp?
From reading other threads, I made sure that only the front speakers had an X in the trigger settings since I don't have any other speakers. I also double checked that the cable was fully plugged into the amp and XMC-1.

You might want to check the trigger cable. My XMC-1 came with a trigger cable that was different from the ones with my XPA-1L's. The XMC trigger cable plug was too short for the contacts in the trigger port. Very strange. I changed the cable and my triggers work fine now.

On mine, the trigger turns on when I turn on the XMC-1 for a bit, then turns back off during startup, then turns back on when startup is done. Since I use the trigger to control the power conditioner for my whole rack, this makes the trigger useless for me.

From my experience, the included trigger cables aren't the best in reliability. I've had issues before and they went away when I replaced all my trigger cables with radio shack 3.5mm monos.

Here is an excerpt from the manual:
As an example of how the Triggers work on the XMC-1, let’s assume you have a stereo amplifier which you use to power your Front Left and Front Right speakers, and a five-channel amplifier that you use to power your Surrounds, Backs, and Center speakers. You want both amplifiers to be On when you listen to surround sound movies, but only the Fronts and your stereo amp to be on when you listen to stereo CDs. For this example, we’ll assume that you only use the Main Zone. One way to achieve this result would be to connect your two channel amplifier to Trigger 1, and your five-channel amp to Trigger 3. You would configure Trigger 1 to be activated ONLY by the Main Zone, but leave all the Input boxes checked, and leave all the Speaker boxes checked. This would configure your two-channel amp to be On whenever the Main Zone was on. You would then configure Trigger 3 to be activated ONLY by the Main Zone, leave all the Input boxes checked, but uncheck all Speaker association boxes EXCEPT the box for Surrounds. This would configure your five-channel amp to be On whenever the Main Zone is On and any Input is selected, but ONLY if you have a mode that uses surround sound selected. Your Surrounds will be Off if you’re using Reference Stereo or Direct Mode, but On if you use Dolby TrueHD or PLIIx.

I didn't find the manual helpful for triggers. I understand you can do all sorts of fancy stuff with the four triggers. I'm not looking to do anything fancy. Just turn on one of my XPA-1s when the xmc turns on and turn the amp off when I'm done.

Ah, sadly the mobile app for ProBoards doesn't show any text formatting, so I missed your emphasis. At the beginning of the day, I started out with everything checked. In fact, I didn't touch anything because A) I'd assume the trigger would work that way by default and B) the manual said that's how Trigger 1 was configured out of the box. Interestingly, the post I was going off of that said you needed to uncheck speakers you don't have came from you. emotivalounge.proboards.com/post/657305/threadMark

If you had everything BUT main speakers checked it would not. Checking those boxes only means that the trigger will go active if any of those get a signal. It doesn't mean ALL have to. I also had an issue (at least with firmware 1) that the trigger would not work if I had the back speakers checked. But I had no back speakers set up in any preset so it could have been some sort of conflct. Do you have your inputs checked for the desired trigger?

As near as I can tell, all of my inputs are checked. I will double check tonight. I did send off an email to Emotiva tech support. Due to their response time, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious.

My trigger 1 is setup as follows and works to turn on my XPA-1Ls whenever the XMC is on.
Power - Only Main Zone ticked. Speakers - Only Fronts ticked. Input - All inputs ticked. Headphone Override - Ticked.

My trigger 1 works nicely when it comes to triggering my two front XPA-1Ls. Trigger two set-up is trickier for me, because I would like it to trigger my XPA-5 (hooked up to my center and surrounds) only when I want to use the center and surrounds, but not when I'm using only the two fronts for two-channel. So far, I haven't figured out how to make Trigger 2 do that (i.e. stay in active for two channel, and activate the XPA-5 only for multichannel surround duties), even though I have unchecked the fronts in the set up for trigger 2. Does anyone know what I am not doing right?

Each input has its own setting. so, when I'm watching a movie from the Oppo I have triggers 1 & 2 Xed (or checked if you like) and to play Two channel from the Oppo I use Coaxial 1 input and the will trigger the XPA-5 to turn off. Same with my Mac Mini, when input through HDMI both trigger 1 & 2 turn on both amps and when I use the USB input I have it set to trigger just the stereo amps. each input has its own settings for everything. Does this make sense to you?

Triggers 1 and 2.
I would like trigger 1 to power on only my two front monoblocks, and nothing else, because it is supposed to serve only 2/2.1 channel listening duties. The problem is that it also powers on my XPA-5 which is connected only to my center channel and surround speakers. I would like to assign this xpa-5 and its attached speakers to trigger 2 alone, so that I can power them on only when I need 5.1 services, and so far I have not figured out how.
It would be difficult to do this from the viewpoint of inputs, because some of them (such as the oppo 103, the Apple tv, the mac mini and Roku) need to have both 2-channel and 5.1 services accessible on demand (but not necessarily simultaneously), because I use them alternatively for 2/2.1 channel or 5.1 duties, depending on whether I am only listening to music or watching a movie.
Since trigger 1 currently powers on the XPA-1L monoblocks and the xpa-5, what I do is turn off the xpa-5 manually when I am listening to 2-channel with say the ERC 3 or the mac mini. I would like to be able to activate and deactivate the XPA-5 independently from the XPA-1Ls. I am sort of beginning to doubt whether this would be possible given how my input needs are set up.

I'll do this from memory cause I'm laying in bed, but I'll help. plug the XPA-5 into trigger2 on the back of the xmc if you haven't already. as an example we're going to do just the ERC-3 first. What input is it connected to? Coaxial 1? Or what?
