Hi guys, I always used to tweak in my two channel systems by using an EQ/Analyzer. I know most of the new AVR's and preamps offer some kind of custom equalization but most two channel systems are left out in the cold. Does anyone think it would be beneficial for Emotiva to offer one? I think an EQ with a string of fluctuating blue lights analyzing the sounds would look amazing. Even better it would help many of us that enjoy stereo recordings to dial in our sound per our rooms and needs. Previous to finding Emotiva, I had a few Technics stereos set up and each included one of these: They looked really cool and the sound improvement was very noticeable. Anyone else see this as a plus?

Nice boom, I think it would be great if Emotiva offered one. Even if it were a stand alone without the spectrum like the Crown you posted...

The only kind of equalizer I would use is the parametric kind. When I was a kid the SAE parametric equalizers were quite famous.
Especially for proper room correction I find an octave equalizer too limited, with its fixed frequency and Q.

I remember those musichead, really nice. I had an Audiosource about that time too but not quite as good.

I always find the "should Emotiva make one of these" questions interesting. Most of the time I just skim over the subject matter but I don't respond. That's not because I don't have an opinion. It has more to do with the subject matter in question. I use to have an SAE 180 parametric equalizer back in the late 70's early 80's. So I thought I'd chime in here. I used it with my Bose 901's to help augment the bass, or the lack there of. Not trying to offend any Bose lover's.
Since then I haven't used a equalizer in any system I've owned. So recently when I was looking to purchase my entry level tube pre amp I made sure it had tone controls just so I'd have the option to play with the sound a bit. I have played with the controls and they work, however for me I've found out that now I prefer just leaving the controls in the flat position.
Back when I was a young buck I use to run over to the equalizer each time I changed a record. Tweaking this, trimming that, boosting this, like I was the engineer on the recording. Now I'm old, I'm lazy, and I realize each recording is made in a different recording studios, on different equipment, by different artist, with different engineers. Alas, no one setting is perfect for all music so it's either keep chasing, or just leave it alone.
Now I think differently I realize there's so much ambient noise in the room. The refrigerator comes on, the air conditioning, or the heat, comes on. Weed blowers, lawnmowers, neighbors, traffic, I even get noise from the ceiling fan, if it's on you can hear the motor oscillating through my system. So ! if I had a dedicated sound proof listening room then I would consider equalization of some sort. Under my current situation I really don't think a equalizer would benefit me much.

No problem with that if you only listen to music thru your computer. For those with phono, and Universal players, not so much. DJ
