Here's a good review where the reviewer has access to a screwdriver and preforms some tests. And here is a BS review from Stereophile. "the Pioneer PLX-1000 emitted a barely perceptible forced weightiness. I had to listen very carefully to hear this. The effect was like a nervous unsuppleness that pushed ever so lightly against my consciousness while music was playing." www.stereophile.com/content/gramophone-dreams-4Too bad Stereophile can't afford a screwdriver or a simple mixing board... cheers ken

I never noticed any feedback with the PLX-1000. So far it is a great turntable and very quiet. I have had a few now. Rega, Clearaudio, Well tempered, Garrard. Could it have been his setup or because he pulled it apart? Will compare it soon once I run in my phono preamp a bit more to my other turntable. On my first listen it was great. I only use turntables in a home stereo setup to listen to my records though.

Still though was it beyond the resources of Stereophile to take the back off and have a look or hook it up to a mixing board and compare? If the resonance was caused by removing and reinstalling the back, that in itself doesn't speak well to the design of the PLX-1000. Really though, my post wasn't really about the PLX-1000, but the poor quality of audio reviews in the mainstream audiophile press. cheers ken

Could be a cable problem, some missmatch somewhere in his setup, a wire came off, wire problem to his cartridge or any number of things. Why I think it may be only his as I have not read another thing about it any where on the net. There is quite a bit of info already on the net on the plx1000.
