Hi everyone, looking for thoughts . I have just been offered a brand new in box aragon 2005. It is a local pawn shop , they wanted 1000$ I got them down to 650$. Any thoughts ? old product line but massive power. I will be using them just for snell surrounds and center channel. 200 watts per channel.......overkill yes...however what a beautiful looking piece of equipment. yea or nay?

Aragon 2000 series amps were great. THX certified and very powerful. I can't speak to the price being good or bad in today's market except to say it cost over $2K when new.

They were good amps in the day. It is not a Krell, McIntosh or Classe. Used equipment drops a lot in value.
If YOU REALLY WANT it and have tested it out to make sure it works I would throw 4 ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR bills out and say this is all you can afford. Ask for a 48 hour warranty in case there might be something wrong. If it is really new in the box they should have no problem
If they say no---walk

Nice sounding amps. Not sure on the price but if in fact it is factory sealed and you can give it a listen I would give it some serious thought.

Rick Santiago of Indy Audio bought them a few years back. He also picked up Acurus. They have a distinctive shape to them... www.indyaudiolabs.com/products/

They have a distinctive shape to them... www.indyaudiolabs.com/products/Rick is a musician and audio mixer (taught me how to mix)..so while I haven't heard Indylabs stuff yet it should be very accurate stuff based on what I know of Rick's background.
