I agree with garbulky. If you need added inputs, go for it. It not, don't.

Exactly.... The SP-1 has no buffers or any other active electronics to improve or degrade the sound on the line level inputs; it uses relays. (Unless, of course, you're talking about the phono section - which is quite similar to the XPS-1 and the phono preamp in the XSP-1.) There's not going to be an improvement. Just added functionality.
