Here is my current setup:
Paradigm studio 100's Towers Paradigm studio CC570 Center Paradigm studio ADP-470's Side Rear Klipsch Reference Rear X2 Powered Epik Conquest 18" subs
Currently using UPA-5 to power four surrounds and center channel XPA-2 to power two front towers
I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of XPA-100's for a little over $400. Could maybe use one each on the towers or somewhere else?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Personally, anytime you can go MONOBLOCKs I'd do it. I haven't ever heard the XPA-2 but am a firm believer in a dedicated amp per speaker when it comes to two channel music! HT, maybe not as much. Just my two cent!! Positions are available in the SMS!!

What are your thoughts on using the two monoblocks (bi-amping)on my center channel?

I would pass on those specific monoblocks. Go bigger. The XPA-100 is the equivalent of a UPA-1. I doubt you'll have a large improvement.

Oh I don't know about the center. I have no feedback to give you there. Sorry

I think mono blocks would always sound better for the two main speakers.

Don't forget that your actual XPA-2 is pretty hard to beat and the channel separation is very good, personally I don't think you'll find an improvement. I think your actual setup is pretty equilibrated, but if you dreaming about mono block nothing is better than realize your fantasy.

Thats a great price but the xpa-2 is fine for your fronts, you could buy them and use one for your center but i wouldnt bother using two of them and just sell the other one or just buy one if possible.

So what about buying the two for Bi-Amping the Center channel? Wonder if that would be an improvement over having the center channel on the UPA-5 ?

Uh, if I was getting something for your center channel, try out a used XPA-1 L single. The sound signature is closer to the XPA-2's you hve.

I'm only referencing the XPA-100's because of being able to buy both for the price of one

Attachment DeletedWell I couldn't resist. Here they are. $600 for three, never used. In the process of adding four ceiling speakers for Atmos and DTS X so these will come in handy.

A wise man once told me to never pass up an opportunity to have a pair of monoblocks, every system deserves them. Good choice on the XPA-100's, very underrated in the Emotiva range.
Cheers Gary
