Looking for a sub for my two channel, which has an xpa-200 and 2 phase tech book shelves. While the room is medium sized (10/21) and is open to the rest of the house in one spot, my seating is only about 7.5 feet from the speakers . ( the speakers and seating back up against each of the two long walls in the center of the room.)
i was was thinkng of putting a sub nearby the speakers, but i can only use a compact sub there. I want this to be a musical sub with tight bass.
The hsu stf-1 sounds ideal, but it is out of production. So far I've identified the bw 8 inch (boomy?) the Svs 1000, the hsu stf-2 and the PSb-150.
Any thoughts? Or should I go for a bigger sub and put it in the far corner?

Rythmik L12? www.rythmikaudio.com/L12.htmlIt is basically a cube, 14" x 14" x 15 1/2" deep, including grille and knobs. Still too big? It should do quite well with music.

frisco, How about an Ultra-10? I have it in my 2 channel office setup and it works well. The thing is that because I travel for work so much it doesn't get any use. Send me a PM if you're interested and we can talk.

An excellent compact musical front firing sub would be the Paradigm DSP-3100 (10 inch) or DSP-3200 (inch). I have 2 DSP-3100 v.2, I really like them. Huge sound improvement over my old Paradigm PS-1000 v.3 which had a very muddy sound.

Unfortunately you don't give us much specific info like how wide can the sub be, what exact model are the Phase Tech speakers and what is your budget? This info we need to give you the best answer.
That said, and seeing that you mention the HSU STF-2 which is 14" wide I would probably go with the STF-2, $329, if the best bang for the buck is important to you. Or for higher in prices consider the excellent SVS SB-2000 (significantly better than the SB-1000) if you can afford that price, $700. The mentioned Rythmik L12, $569, is an excellent sub at a very good price. I have stayed here within 14.2" wide and $700 max. These are all from online direct sub brands, which are usually the best bang for the buck versus brands sold at local dealers. I would count the 8" B&W and the little PSB out IMO. If you can exceed the $700 then there would be other recommendations. If you want to consider a corner sub or may be two subs (one in the front and one in the corner) then we would need a diagram of your room, where is the corner you mention? What preamp with bass management (sub/bookself crossovers) is involved?

Hi, here are specs for my question about sub phase tech pc60ca speakers, bass goes down to 55/60 but it is pretty good quality down to that level. ( there is a stereophile review online) preamp is Jolida fusion with line out and no active cross over controls. amp xpa200 14 inch maximum width, though I would prefer narrower. Price level 500 or a little higher Music only
