When you call in this morning, let us know what they say. Looks like there are maybe two or three with this issue, reporting here so far. Mine is working great.

I'm curious to hear more from Emotiva also. I have not upgraded my FW yet because I have been camping, and my new sub arrives today so I wanted to make sure the XMC is working fine when it arrives. I'll just hold a few more days to see how the dust settles...mine is working great on 3.0 anyway.

Mark If you don't have any problems that makes since, but 3.1 fixes quite a few things, for me proper Zone 2 remote operation. I think 3.1's worthwhile, but it will be interesting to see what these crash users might have in common.

Installed 3.1 on Sat (Monday morning now) - although only very minor issues before. I had some very low level clicks and pops when changing things sometimes - those seem to be gone.
I also lose a short blip of the first track when playing music on the PC if it has no leader - assume this is because the PC is sending dead silence - this still seems to be there but I've had this same issue with several pre-pros over the years, so I am not shocked...nor personally concerned...if I was, foobar2000 can add leaders and dither as needed...
Oppo 95/PC/Chromecast -> XMC -> Lumagen Mini -> JVC RS-45
Procedure I use: backup config, flash, factory reset, power off, wait 30-60 sec, power on, restore config, save config, then spend some time reviewing all the settings menus for new settings - if I chance any save config again.

+1 to the xmc-1 shutdown in passthru mode. It seems to happen when making a large volume change using the tv remote. My TV is an LG. I wonder if the IR frequencies are overlapping.

I use the passthru mode all the time, but to change volume I use the Directv remote and there is no problem with shutdown. I don't use the TV remote to change volume.

XMC-1 in standby, Off, rewind on my Tivo and a complete shut down! No pass through on xmc, no response at all. Using the remote I power up and xmc reboots from off, after a cpu reboot im watching the game. That is all to report at this time Have you tried turning off HDMI CEC on your TV & XMC-1? It usually causes problems

CEC off, LED TV, fast forward stop fast forward crash. Repeatable, Tivo continues to operate, ie, if your FF when the crash happens, after reboot its still FF the appropriate amount of length
Call into Emotiva, awaiting call back.
Thata all to report for now.

And it's not only when video on standby is active. Puzzling.

Thata all to report for now. Have you tried the commands at the device itself that is causing the shutdowns and not with a remote? I agree with digi that there could be a remote IR issue that could be shutting the XMC-1 down. But if these issues that you and several others are experiencing with 3.1 didn't happen with 3.0 it indicates an issue with the firmware.

Just spoke with Emotiva about the shutdown of my XMC-1 while FF my Tivo,
A suggestion was made to block the reciever from the remote signal to see if that code was causing the unit to shut down. I dont have acces to my xmc at this time to test.
I was informed that a new feature of 3.1 was to set the xmc into low power mode by pressing and holding the remote standby button till shutdown.
I hadn't seen that one before.
Stand by for more tests,,,,,or try yourself and report back here.

... The XMC still shuts off while watching TV in pass through (wife) mode. Only seems to happen when changing volume. So if you're in passthrough mode and you're changing volume, you're using the TV remote to do that? And changing volume with the TV remote causes the XMC-1 to shut down? Yes. TV remote. And I've determined that I do not have a problem if I do not change volume. Watched most of the Jet game with no problem at one volume. Change the volume, the unit MAY go off but not always. But problem never occurs without a volume change. Checked. Both XMC and TV CEC functions are disabled. Russ

Actually cable box remote, not TV remote. The TV is a Vizio. Cable is Cablevision. I'll try my iPhone and iPad apps to see if there is any difference.
Proble is only in pass through mode.

Russ CEC at this time is not the top candidate for this problem, since both fast forward and volume changes make the unit crash we have large suspicion that the code sent by remote to the TV/Tivo whatever is intercepted and crashes the XMC-1
