Hi guys.
I sent this in an email to support@emotiva.com, but I've yet to have any reply.
Maybe someone knows what I can do other than email the same address again?
Hi Emotiva,
I live in Australia, and I've had the XMC-1 for over a year. I was on the original waiting list and bought it as soon as I could.
It has been absolutely fantastic so far, but yesterday it stopped loading properly.
I usually have it on 'video remains on' so I don't have to wait for the full boot sequence every time.
Yesterday I was setting up a Chromecast, and in doing so, the resolution changed once or twice. When it had finished, and the resolution had returned to the default 1080p, the XMC-1 on screen display was not displaying properly; the blue volume bar was still bottom center, but the box that is usually around the volume bar was in the top left. Likewise with the input name - the name was bottom center but the box was top left. The main info box with all text was also displaying top left.
I turned it to standby, then back on, but the same problem persisted. I then turned it to standby, then turned it off with the power switch on the back of the unit.
When I turned it back on, it went through the long boot, with 'Starting up' displayed on screen, but when the bar reached all the way to the right, it stayed there, and 'Starting up' stayed displayed on screen.
I have left it unplugged with the switch on overnight to fully discharge it and tried turning it back on this morning with no luck, the same problem is still there.
Could you please assist me?
Thank you,
Kind regards,
Clifford Parks.
Any ideas, or should I just email them again?
Pretty surprised to have to response to be honest.

Email can take a few days so if possible a phone call would be your best bet Chad

I will be down in Oz next week, not sure where you are located, ill be in the gold coast. if case they have to send you parts I might be able to help - I do Emotiva repairs here in Singapore all the time.
I do suggest you install the latest firmware if you can get it to the state where you have a menu to do so.

Thanks wiz, but I'm down in Melbourne atm...
20 mins drive from Final Link actually! So hopefully that's where I'll have to take my unit - it's not far!
And no, can't even get to the menu to up the firmware :/
I've emailed Emotiva again... hopefully I'll hear something next week.

I had that weird display problem once or twice before (and before the current firmware release). In my case, a reboot corrected the display and is has not happened again. Give this a try if possible: Disconnect the XMC-1 from EVERYTHING (all HDMI cables, the whole smash). See if you can get it to reboot with nothing hooked up. If you are successful then, install the latest firmware. A shot in the dark I know, but if you are stuck, worth a try. You have a good connection to power? No power strip problems, etc.?

It happened on the last firmware update and I talk to Lonnie and was ready to send it in for service that time but playing with it I got it to start. This time when it did the same load without starting I called again and was told by the head tech that it sounded strange that the program would load to the end then freeze so I pulled out the box and sent it back to Emo., they will get it today, hopefully they can find out what the problem is and maybe it can help with yours. I know you don't want to ship yours all the way back here.

Great news! Your service has been completed. Your unit was tested and inspected, and repacked for its journey back to you.
Our service technician found the following issue:
Unit was stuck during initial boot up, removed ECC, re flash and re program Front panel needed to be replaced due to the CEC partially failing Unfortunately, due to the ECC issue your settings were not able to be saved and restored.
Seems to me they could send the parts to you and let you install them. THe ECC chip could be replaced with a new one or put yours out and send it to Emo for reflash. Not really sure why the front panel was involved guess I will it over when it gets here tomorrow. Shipping was 27USD Yours will not be cheap to send back.

The problem is some issues you can't pin to one board...and sending out board after board is not practical.

Last night I had a similar problem. Would partially boot and then freeze. A power off then on fixed it. I am on 3.0, will also upgrade to latest firmware.
