Well folks after years of trouble free usage my XPA-2 has gone out on me. While watching a movie the other night I heard a strange buzzing and CLICK, off it goes and all the lights for both channels begin flashing. Then that oh so obvious smell of electrical parts in need of repair. No smoke though. Well here comes the rub. Due to space limitations in my storage area I had thrown out the box about a year after purchase and I took this monster into the UPS store to get an estimate on boxing, insuring and shipping it back to Emotiva for the covered repairs and BOOM sticker shock. $270.00 to ship the XPA-2. Well I was kind of dumb founded and couldn't decide what to do, this seems outrageous to me! Thats almost half the price of a new one right now. Im wondering if any other members have had to deal with this and if they found a way to reduce the shipping cost. $150.00 seemed reasonable to me but almost $300.00 I don't think I can justify. Of course I can drive all over town lugging my Xpa-2 in and out of shipping stores getting estimates, but frankly that sound back breaking. Any other Advice? Have any of you dealt with this in a different more cost effective way?
Dustin

I'm not 100% positive, but reach out to Emotiva as I think you can purchase a box from them to use for the return.

You can also ask them to see if they would print out a shipping label from them? If you do this the shipping would be hugely discounted.

As teaman and LuisV have already said, I bet you can get a double box from Emotiva sent to you. They might even send you a return shipping label at the cost of what they would pay, I'm not at all sure if they would do that but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I will try calling and see if I can get a label from them and pay their cost, rather than UPS'. I have inquired about the box and they are all out of extra xpa 2 boxes. If they get some in within a reasonable time it would be worth the wait. UPS wanted $62.00 just for the boxing.

Dustin, where are you? You never know if someone local to you has one! I'm in Utah, I don't see many members from Utah on here though.

Okay, yeah I just thought it might help. If you were in Michigan I would have gave you a box. Good luck with that. I think your best bet may to call and talk to someone at Emotiva.

Thanks though, I appreciate the offer. Wish I was closer Not long ago I checked on the cost of shipping an XPA-5 from Tennessee to California. It was under 50 bucks going Fedex Ground insured with the discount our company gets. I don'r remember the non-discounted rate but it was well under $100. $270 is a ripoff to pack and ship unless they were building a wooden crate or something. The UPS stores are outrageous in their pricing.

I agree, I just shipped my XPA-2 this week and it cost me $60 with $600 insurance via UPS.

You could put up a Want To Buy thread here just for the box. If someone would sell and ship it to you, empty but with the fillers, for less than $50, then you could ship your unit for $100 or less, then you'd be within your $150 window, maybe even less.
