Yesterday, Magico hosted tours of their factory/listening room in the SF Bay area and I found it very interesting to observe an operation that produces what many consider to be the finest speakers in the world. MagicoEvery speaker and component we saw was, in itself, a work of art. Their milling process is state of the art with each finished product flawless and every driver waiting to be installed is something one could almost display in a case. Yes, that gorgeous. In the lobby they had the Magico Ultimate which I believe retails for over $500,000. Their in-house listening room is the top of the mountain in my mind and the tracks they played on a new pair of two-way speakers blew everyone away. No pictures or touching was allowed which I took as elitist but after the fact realized they have invested so much in unique IP that I can now see their point. I'm not sure I'm glad I went because coming home to my system was a depressing let down but I guess it's like having the chance to drive a Ferrari for an hour.
