Well it's true for those of you that might have thought about it, they carry the 1CI, 2CE Signature II, 3A Signature, VLR Bookshelf, 2Wq Sub, VS-1 surround speakers and the VCC-2 Center Channel. I have the 2CE Signature II and the 2Wq Sub (will be buying a second one-next year). I have heard the 1CI, 2CE Signature II's, VLR Bookshelf-amazing little speaker, Quatro and Quatro Wood CT, 2Wq Sub, Vandersteen 5's and Vandersteen 7's. For those not familiar with the Vandersteens with the right system and room placement they can sound Magnepan like (with a lot more bass), very transparent.
They are time and phase accurate and share this quality with Theil speakers. My Dealer told me that Music Direct won't be able to carry the higher end Vandersteen Quarto or Quarto Wood Ct, 5's, or the mighty 7's. The 5's, Quatro CT Woods and mighty 7's have built in subs. If you haven't heard Vandersteen and are unsure get to a dealer that sells them and listen, you will be as surprised as I was, it's the one component in my system that hasn't changed and won't change unless I move up in the Vandersteen line.
I have met Richard Vandersteen and he is a very nice guy and extremely smart when it comes to speaker design. I heard the 7's at a special event with Richard Vandersteen and the equipment connected was the Audio Research 5se, Ref 150's, a Linn turntable, and Hi Res Apple CD Rips-done on Amarra. This all sounded like the musicians were in the room with you and singing to you. I have never in my life and I mean never ever heard any system image like this, it's truly the hallmark of what Audio is all about. You could hear the jazz musicians like Ella Fitzgerald and especially Louis Armstrong breath between singing, wow!!! You hear things in the background that you didn't know ever existed, like people coughing. If everyone in this forum could hear audio like this, you would not only know what Audio was truly like and you would feel the passion, (the negative talk about tubes would be, in a word over) the problem the price and don't get me wrong their are other brands that can reproduce this type of sound, but most of us will never hear it. The 5's are fantastic and the 7's are quite simply breath taking.
