I'm going to put together a nice 2 channel audio setup and going to be demoing a lot of speakers.... I'm starting my journey with a healthy $5,000 - $9000 budget (speakers , pre, amps etc ) But I need someone to give me a direction on what's worthy to audition. There is several stores located in a 20 mile radius will many of the top brands but this destination is a 2hour haul. If i can get some ideas it'll give me an idea of exactly what to listen to.. I happen to be new to this world so any options would help steer me and it'll be helpful if some experts here could put together a 2 channel set up to give me an idea what I need to awesome sound. (I can get 10-45% off Monitor Audio, KEF and RBH) My living room is 30 feet by 17 feet and fairly open my music selection consists of hard rock, classical music, jazz, country ( Basically at some point i listen to anything and everything )

Listen to the MA Gold. Nice speakers. a little detailed at the high end, which is why i recommended the tube hybrid integrated and Gungnir DAC.

I'd suggest auditioning conventional speakers, and then listening to Magnepan and/or Martin Logan, too. And I wouldn't rule out pre-owned. I've had a lot of good luck buying stuff off craigslist.
And there's a Magnepan MG 3.5R for sale on audiogon for $1900. That's an amazing speaker, and a very good price - but you have the right room for it.

Where are you located just in case someone lives close by and might potentially have a speaker that interests you and would welcome you tho his/her home to take a listen.

What I would strongly suggest is that you bring some sort of digital media that contains your music you want to hear. Since most of these types of stores have CD players hooked up, I would make 1 or 2 CD-R's that contain what you want to test speakers with. This is what I did. That way you can really hear the differences on familiar music, not the stuff they have laying around they want you to hear. Keep in mind you will also be hearing their equipment and their rooms, so it's far from perfect. But you really need to hear the same familiar music over and over again from the different speakers to really tell what is what.
Good hunting!

If you have several places within that range of you I would take the time and go to as many as you can and listen to as many speakers/brands as possible. It will be a big time investment, but it will be well worth it in the end.

I think that is important to know what type of sound you like. Do you like forward, neutral or warm sound? With that information you dont waste time auditioning speaker that dont match your preferences

I reccomend Tekton Pendragon Seas Dual PSA S15 subwoofers. XSP-1 XPA-1 gen 2 Amplfiers running in class A Schiit Ygdrassil Right there the setup will be utterly fantastic blow your freaking socks off, don't call your mom as she will disown you good. You can also substitute the Axiom m80s in there but if you do the PSA subs are a must if your living room isn't small. IMO every component of that system will work together well. The above is basically an upgrade off an already fantastic system that I hear often That is B'zilla's He has XPA-1 Ls XSP-1 Oppo 105 Dual PSA XV15 subwoofer (running in stereo) Axiom m80 v4 And already this system is pretty much the best I've heard. He has a new one but it's not broken in yet for me to form proper opinions. With his system I get 3 dimensional sound. Music so thick and real it's almost creepy! Really great. The components listed above is MY upgrade list to that system. Most of what I hope to own someday.

I'd start with a solid base of amps/preamp/sources/rack/panels. I would allocate the leftover money towards the speakers. Should leave you 3-5k on the speakers alone.
Changing speakers is MUCH more fun than changing your base equipment.
Enjoy the ride!

This is what I'd recommend: Emotiva XMC-1 or Emersa (if they go production in time) Emotiva XPR-2 (since the XPR-1s are sold out) Revel F208 = audio bliss I don't recommend anything that I wouldn't get myself .

Look at Legacy. You might even be able to score some Wilson Watt Puppies for that cash.
