It's cool Sony is really rethinking outside of normal boundaries with this sort of product. The idea is very cool. Cost prohibitively expensive for most, yes, but still cool. But I have to wonder about the wall. What color does it need to be painted, and man, I have to think it would need to be super flat & smooth. One review I read said the colors produced were not videophile grade, so it's not perfect either. But I still think the general idea is cool. www.sony.com/electronics/projectors-4k/lspx-w1swww.sony.net/Products/4k-ultra-short-throw/youtu.be/Bk9dvWT8xOU

Ideally you wouldn't project the image on the wall. Screen Innovations has a screen designed for short throw projectors. There is actually a video on their home page right now showing this setup. www.screeninnovations.com/

It's a very cool looking room and I'm sure a cool room to hang out in also. But it's a home theater nightmare of a room. All that glass, hard floor, and high ceiling? Listen to when the guy talks, it sounds like echo cavern schiit. I can't imagine spending that kind of dough on a cool TV like that with surround sound etc, only to get poor performance because the room isn't conducive to allowing it to work well. It's a "cool factor" room, not a "performance" room.

Also note the speakers are in wall and about 20 feet off the ground.

If someone was building a performance based room then this would not likely be the projector of choice. The general room challenges would also not be as prevalent. The projector really has more use in the environment shown because of the short throw and lack of other options to mount a traditional projector. Yes lighting can be an issue, but anyone willing to throw $50K at a projector is likely going to make an investment in window treatments to help control lighting.
As far as sound, that is a whole different beast.

As far as sound, that is a whole different beast. +1. Agree. But this is the room this professional company is using to sell the goods, and it does appear he's applied some surround sound (although it appears he took the video before he was done with that) meaning he's going for a theater room. This room certainly looks cool but is far from ideal for showing off that TV to it's fullest. But I'm guessing anyone willing or able to toss $50 g's at this thing is in it more for the cool "wow" factor than anything else. This TV is for their living room next to the kitchen, while they probably have a dedicated theater room for serious viewing (if they are even into that sort of thing). So what this guy has done here just may be the best way to sell it. I hope he sells a bunch of them because they are cool.
