Called and spoke with a costumer service gentalman today about Tidal having problems with my 103, he says they have a know problem with the latest update and Tidal. He sugested that we not set our players on quick start. I told hom that this kind of defeats the purpose, they have no info or update at this time concerning this problem While on the phone I asked about an Oppo 4K player, he confirmed that it will most likely be by the 4 th quarter of this year. Oops, I started another thread. My friend will get this one. Anyway, just thought y'all would like this update, I haven't seen it anywhere here, I even tried the search option. If anyone hears more please let us know.

4K does not interest me until 100+" OLED panels are only $3000. The small affordable panels these days are not going to show the full benefit of that resolution and I will not own a projector.

I think you will have a long wait. My current 65" Samsung SUHD looks great with 4K content as well as upconverted 1080p. Very happy. Looking forward to the Oppo 4K bluray player.

Our 60" Samsung UHD kicks the pants off our previous 59" plasma. Waiting for that player as well but in the meantime the new FireTV is filling in nicely.

I just purchased an Oppo 103, but I would consider upgrading to 4K once there is a decent software base. As for seeing the difference, I figure if I can tell the difference across the room at Sams I can tell the difference at home.

I have an Oppo 103, but will move that to the bedroom once I purchase an Oppo 4K player. Love the Oppos.

HDR will be more beneficial for typical home displays than 4K. But I must say, the new 4K HDR blurays looks stunning.

That timeline works for me. I had planned on getting an 80" UHD last summer but decided to wait until the end of ski season. Now I want to rebuild my entertainment center so I'll wait to see what's available when that's done, probably late summer (and at that point I'll probably convince myself to wait for CES). So end of the year works fine for a 4K player, and I expect Oppo will set the standard for compatibility, features, and performance like they have in the past. My BDP-93 has had a good long life and performed very well, I'm totally behind another Oppo.

As usual I'll have to wait until the region free mod is available for a new Oppo. Which likely means Q1 next year.
Cheers Gary

I just received my first Oppo after all these years. It's this unit in CAM: www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649268022-oppo-bdp103/I was hoping to score a BDP-95 or 83 SE (for the headphone system) but they're hard to come by at a reasonable price here in the Great White North. I'll put it through its paces on the weekend to see what the fuzz is about. Definitely watching for the next iteration of the Oppo player.

We did just get the new Entry level OLED from LG the other day. Looks very nice. I am really excited about Sony's "supposed" release of a TV with some insane amount of zones. My rep couldn't talk much about it, but said that it destroys the OLEDs. (Keep in mind, my rep is very aware that the OLED is superior from LCD tvs.) The model of the Sony escapes me at the moment, but we should see a release this year.

Side note. Am I the only one who has had issues with every Oppo they have owned? I had a 103 and it constantly locked up, my dad has 2 103 and they both lock up, I now have a 105 and it locks up as well. Sometimes the it freezes so bad I have to pull the power chord and let it sit for a minutes. (All non Darby edition)
Don't get me wrong, I love my Oppo gear but the constant locking up does frustrate me at times.
