Side note. Am I the only one who has had issues with every Oppo they have owned? I had a 103 and it constantly locked up, my dad has 2 103 and they both lock up, I now have a 105 and it locks up as well. Sometimes the it freezes so bad I have to pull the power chord and let it sit for a minutes. (All non Darby edition) Don't get me wrong, I love my Oppo gear but the constant locking up does frustrate me at times. Wow, 83, 93 103 and 105 and never had so much as glitch from any of them. Run over any black cats recently? Broken a mirror perhaps? Cheers Gary

If you are TRULY an Oppo addict, then you should treat yourself to a HA-1. IMO it's one of the coolest electronics on the market. Your welcome, and enjoy.

It drives my wife insane, but she has since learned to power cycle it and all is good. I do have clients return them from time to time complaining of the same issue.

It's not just for headphones, it's also an extremely effective 2channel preamp for a small system. In fact, I use it to home my 2 stealth 6 out of the balanced output, and it is STELLAR! Also, you need to check out a pair of "serious" headphones, not just the entry Ipod cans. It's a game changer. The LCD-X I own sound better than a lot of 5-10k speakers I have heard. Pretty cool.

I've owned several Oppos and, while they do lock up or get something wrong occasionally, I would have to say that they have FAR fewer problems than any other brand of disc player I've owned. Other than that, Oppos also seem to be far more universally compatible in terms of playing every type of file and disc I've thrown at them. I have a significant collection of music videos, many of them homemade, and many in very non-standard formats. All of the files I've kept in my collection play using VLC on a computer, and my Oppo will play at least 85% to 90% of them off a USB stick. I've never owned or tried another brand of player that would play more than half. Every Oppo I've ever owned has also been significantly faster at loading and starting disc play, and at ejecting the disc when you stop it, than any other brand of player I've owned (some of the others take a really long time to load a disc). Side note. Am I the only one who has had issues with every Oppo they have owned? Typical of any processor controlled device.

I've read this complaint about Oppo's before so you're not alone, fortunately you don't hear of it too often, nor have I experienced it. I actually hear about lockups more often with Sony's that I've recommended when someone balks at the Oppo's price.

My Denon player was always locking up requiring the power to be unplugged to reset it before a firmware update that mostly fixed the issue. I want to replace it with an OPPO but now have second thoughts...

Quick question about the Ruku stick for the Oppo, does the light on it stay on after you turn off the Oppo?? In quick start mode?
Thanks!

My son has a 103 that took a hit during a lightning storm and took out his Ethernet along with an Asus router but he's still using it and I've never heard him complain of lockups.

But I have never had any trouble with it locking up. Streaming though it streams like crap. The worst devise I have in my house for streaming. But for playing disc so far plays great.

Why purchase 4K when the content for 4K is at a minimum. Rumor has it that by the time 4K content becomes plentiful 8K will be next. I think OLED 1080p will look better than 4k LCD. Then the cost factor. Hope you have a BIG PIGGY bank! OLED's will cost near $10,000 just fora 55" and 4k close to $20,000

Oppos...great players...I've had the DVD models 971, 983 plus bdp 80, 93, 95, 105 and the latest 101CI transport too, plus ha-1 ( 2 units) ha-2 and pm 2 headphones. Never any issues with any of them bar the 971 which needed a couple of powersupply caps replaced. I sold the 80,93 and 95 but still have all the others
