Can someone help me figure out a receiver that will output a digital signal over zone 2 while outputting a different source in the main zone.
My friend has an older denon receiver avr4306, that will output a digital signal to the second zone only if it is also playing in the main zone.
The receiver needs to be 7.1 with preamp outputs and have a second zone of course.
Thanks,
Derek

Denon AVR-X4200 should do the trick. I know for sure HDMI will pass to zone 2 without having to share feed. This is not accurate - I reread the manual and both the main zone and zone 2 must be on the same source. My apologies. "When a TV is connected to the HDMI ZONE2 OUT connector, and the MAIN ZONE and ZONE2 are set to the same input source, the MAIN ZONE audio may be mixed down to 2-channel audio."

Thanks for the clarification on that denon. Anyone else have any ideas?
