Why hasn't anyone come out with a 4ch. amp for Atmos-related systems?

The XPA GEN 3 can be ordered with 4 channels or just run 2 stereo amps.

The XPA GEN 3 can be ordered with 4 channels.... True. For Atmos applications it'd be nice to have a modest 50-75Wx4 amp for ceiling speakers. I don't need 200W/ch nor do I want to drop $1300 or $1400 or whatever they cost. Just seems like there would be a market for an amp like that.

They have, but its designated as a 5 channel amp. Gives it more versatility as well. Starting out into HT, a lesser expensive amp with less power but with good build quality is a great starting point.
I think the Emotiva A-500 is an exceptional value for Atmos or surround speakers. I own an UPA-500 which will fill my needs for Atmos or whatever I opt. At this time I have it in my second system. It allows the amp from the Yamaha to drive only the two channels.

Right, good choice, another option (when it's released) will be the Emersa EDA-5 (MSRP: $799): 5 channels; 125 watts/channel. 1U, class D, low power consumption and heat generation.

Also didn't they mention they are coming out with smaller modules for hte XPAg en 3 - or modules tha have two channels integrated in to one amp blade? So you can have two or three big channels and then those smaller modules which have two channels each in them.

Right, I think that will be a great config, something like 3 x 500 for the fronts and 8 x 75 for surrounds and heights (3 dual wide cards and 4 stereo cards). I'd like to see a 2RU chassis solution like the Gen 3 (maybe an XPA Gen 3L) that would accept Class D modules. I'd really like to reduce my system's footprint, power consumption, and heat generation.

I use 4 channels of a UPA-500 to drive a pair of Linkwitz Lab LXmini speakers
This power amp was used by Linkwitz in the development of this speaker Linkwitz: : " performance to price ratio is amazing"
Pretty sure you can expect 90 watts / channel at 8 ohms when utilizing 4 channels
Works very well indeed

Take a look at my sig.....already own one. Great amp. Using in a different application. Anyway, to simplify, rather than add another amp, or pair of 2ch amps in combination with my XPA-5, I bought an Onkyo PA-MC5501 which is a 9ch amp. It handles my center, 4 surrounds and 4 ceilings, and my pair of UPA-1s cover L/R mains. Perfect. That's why my XPA-5 is for sale.
