based purely on audio quality, which brand wouldyou choose for a budget receiver and what audio qualities do you base it on? assuming features are equal.

I have had good luck with the Yamaha receivers I have owned. No issues at all to speak of and the only downside is their over rated power output numbers. What they rate at 130w x 7 = about 60 wpc @ 8ohms. Also, I don't see a need for 60+ surround modes that they include. They are pretty much bulletproof.

NAD for audio quality but, in my experience, reliability can be an issue.

about $500 more or less. Nad is a little bit more, but I want to include it in the poll too.

the store I'm looking at only have those brands available. Someone in Edmonton must carry Anthem, or are you only looking at a specific place than I say none, when I changed from my Yamaha RXV-1065 receiver to my UPA-1's and Emotiva gear it was the biggest upgrade in SQ i have had to date, I will never go back to a wimpy receiver, the Anthem are known for having better power and they have ARC room correction, just my .02 from what I've experienced. Got my mom a Denon and it doesn't seem too bad for what she needs but my needs are a little more haha.

www.accessories4less.com/ has some good online deals if you can narrow down what you are looking for. They may have the same ones you are looking at in the stores...but for less money

Not sure how A4Less works for Canada shipping, or if they do.

US shipping only, unfortunately. I use a shipping forwarding company when I need to purchase from the USA. Mine is based in Nevada so you don't pay taxes. Im not sure about Canadian import fees/taxes though.

Sure Anthem is great. It is well over $500.00 though. Used market maybe? New I don't think so.

Theres a great deal on a Yamaha 773 here on this forum. Ive been tempted because Ive owned this model and many other Yamahas and love their reliability and sound. Its priced great. Search the Emporium and grab it!!

I have never come across audio qualities in a budget receiver so I would choose silence.
