I've had my XMC-1 for well over a year now and it's been rock solid. It's on FW 3.1 and ever since I got it setup it's been trucking along no problems. I know it has roughly 800 hours of use based on my projector lamp hours. Has been working without a hiccup and then BOOM.... all of a sudden I turn it on and the screen flickers in and out. This is with any HDMI inputs. My cheapy sony blueray, direct tv or apple TV.
at one point it said the hdmi cable was connected wrong or not compatible all while flickering. Now I see the apple TV won't play saying the HDMI connection doesn't support DHCP or the cable isn't plugged in properly. I swapped all my cords to spare cords that I know are working without luck.
So now I suppose out of no where I have an hdmi issue. The unit is within warranty but we have a family party on the 18th and doubt this would get corrected by then... this just completely sucks... royally.
I tried resetting all my equipment to factory defaults... I plugged the bluray directly into the projector and it works fine and everything unplugged from the xmc-1 but the output to the projector and the menu options works fine... but the minute you plug anything hdmi to any of the hdmi inputs it starts to flicker.
Any idea what to do here?

Any idea what to do here? Unfortunately I have to recommend a call in the morning to Emotiva and most likely sounds like a board problem. Something like this usually happens to me just before I host an EmoSouth meeting or a holiday gathering. Call in the morning. You did a reset of the XMC-1, correct?

Ya I did a factory reset without fix. I can always overnight it but not sure if they could get it repaired and back soon enough.

Anyway to isolate the display? Easy to assume it's the hdmi switcher but hdmi is a chain so all components needs to be isolated and checked. Also no other component in the chain had an update or change to it?

Any idea what to do here? Ide be pragmatic about it if its for a week or so [and/or Emo is snowed under with work] till you can ship to emo and feed your bd player direct and use sp/dif for everything [not sure if the apple tv is hdmi only ?] Dts 1.5mbps can sound pretty good

You swapped the HDMI cable between the projector and the XMC-1?
