I am in love with the XMC-1, hopefully I will be purchasing one to drive my Denon 5803a through M-direct 7 channel analog. I have a OPPO UDP-203 for a source; question should I be concerned about DiRac down sampling, and next question I notice that BasX Pre/pro support HDR-10 which my Samsung 65ks9500 supports, does the XMC-1 support HDR-10. Thanks

Thanks Not currently. It supports protected 4k with it's HDMI 2.0 / HDCP 2.2 but lacks HDMI 2.0a for HDR-10. There is an upgrade board in the works that should be here hopefully 2nd qtr this year.

Isn't it comforting to know that every little change (or enhancement) in technology doesn't have to automatically result with the disposal of a processor that you're otherwise perfectly happy with... As to Dirac's 48K sampling frequency, I don't find any issue with movie soundtracks or standard "redbook" 2 channel audio. For "hi-rez" 2 channel audio (music) where downsampling isn't necessarily ideal, or where the source material is noticeably degraded, I just use an input with a manual speaker set up (Speaker Preset 1). Or, you can simply switch the mode to "Direct" which bypasses Dirac, but maintains bass management.
