Is the mute supposed to be a total mute, or just an attenuation? When I press the volume knob on my unit and it says "mute" it doesn't completely cut out the audio. It attenuates it a lot, maybe 60dB or more, but it doesn't silence it. Is that by design (I've seen devices with a "dim mute" before) or is there something off with my unit?

Perhaps you are hitting the "muffle" button by mistake?

Are you using zone 2 anywhere? Mute from the volume knob doesn't mute zone 2.

Isn´t this configurable somewhere how the button behaves?

I thought so but couldn't find anything in the documentation.

When I hit Mute, mine goes 💯 percent silent, even from ear bleed levels. Maybe it's one of those quirks that would resolve from a factory reset. So far as I know, mute SHOULD be just that. Perhaps try the shutdown, then unplug and leave it for a while with the rear switch on, but unplugged before having to do the reset procedure.
