I took the plunge and picked up an LG OLED television. It's amazing, and I wish I'd known just how good this set was earlier.
I'll be getting an Oppo 4K player. I'm assuming I hook up the HDMI to my TV and run an optical cable to my XMC-1. Is this correct?
Thanks.

The Oppo 203 (and, I assume, the 205 when it becomes available) has dual HDMI outputs for just this situation. One goes straight to your TV for video, the other goes to your XMC-1 for audio. Or you can run the optical out like you suggested.

I could have sworn there was a way to use the second HDMI out on the Oppo to the XMC-1.

I won't have the Oppo till next week, but I'll give the HDMI audio a shot. Worst case, Toslink, until Emotiva releases the board.

HDMI-2 is audio only and meant for your situation. You can't get the lossless codec like Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio over Toslink.
