Hello everyone I have a unit upgraded to the latest firmware version that is setup as a 7.1 system, with media player audio (HTPC) set to passthru in order to have XMC-1 performing the decoding job. Works great. Documentation says page 16, that the "Setup Inputs Menu allows you to configure the default behavior for each input for each type of input signal". I did configure the HDMI 1 input either to Last used or Surround, despite that the default audio mode is always set to "PLIIx Music" after a power off/power on sequence which is I certainly don't want (Last used was indeed Surround). This behavior is noticed with AC3 5.1 audio track.
With DTS-HD MA 5.1 (or 7.1) audio tracks there is no issue (that is Surround mode is automatically selected).
Is it a bug or a feature that I don't understand?
Thanks

Probably a bug. I've seen the same behavior where it ends up in music mode on an input and I'm not sure why. I even went through and changed the default mode for each input from auto to something else, but it still happens. Hitting the movie button fixes it, but it's annoying.

Thanks I believe dolby digital defaults to music unless the programming coming in has been specifically tagged to go pliiz(movie). Thus I believe it occurs with all processors, could be wrong.

No it is one of the things my XMC-1 does that I wish it didn't, my previous Onkyo PR-SC885 processor could be set to default to any mode you wanted for every input. I wish the XMC-1 did this as well, but it seems to usually default to pliiz music for TV regardless of settings.

I'm almost 100% sure that with the previous firmware it was working correctly. I would have noticed that behavior. I reported to emotiva support.

Yeah, I think my Integra let's me set the default to PLIIx Movie or PLIIx Music whereas the XMC-1 only gives the option of PLIIx. Then, the XMC-1 selects music or movie either randomly, based on bitstream metadata, or some other unknown pattern.
For me, it's been a problem in all the firmwares. I did skip over 4.0 and went directly to 4.1, however.
