I just received an XMC-1 and am in the process of setting everything up. I have a question regarding the triggers: Is there any delay in the triggers coming on or switching off? (for turning the power amps on & off) Thanks.

No delays.

If you have a power conditioner made my MonsterPower, Panamax, Furman, Belkin and I'm sure other brands, some of these models have built-in triggers that activate selectable time delays for turning on and off components connected to outlet banks that are switchable. This is how I have the XMC-1 trigger my XPR power amplifiers on, to delay in the case of any turn-on thumps that may occur. I used this as a fix for my former Carver power amplifiers(my pre-Emotiva days) as the Carvers would cause a thump.

My XMC triggers are off. The Sunfire multi channel amp. Has the auto sensing trigger....hoped it would work as well as it did with the old processor and indeed it did. I use the longer start up boot on the XMC, but my amp. Has an "idler" power supply so it's always ready for the output stage to kick in. As soon as I'm ready the volume is on at the pre selected level.

I remember the carver thump all too well, And if they were bridged, there was another unique sound, like a pack of firecrackers going off WAY WAY.....in the distance. Fortunately, the Sunfire, also from Carver did not follow suit. Bill

I took a look at the project, it's a little over the top for me right now as I'm currently building a new audio cabinet to replace the one I currently have. Many components have increased in their depth size and will no longer fit in my cabinet (I have my eye on a couple of XPA-1 mono blocks which wont fit in my current cabinet). But it did get me thinking...I can build a simple circuit using 555 timer IC's to delay the power amps turning on by a defined trigger delay and also allow the fans to continue to operate x seconds or minutes after the XMC-1 is turned off. Since this is a DC signal separate from the audio, there shouldn't be too much concern about noise induction...the real trick would be keeping the XMC-1 on until the power amps have shut off...will have to think about it). Thanks for your reply.
