Not only is it not available to ship but the upgrade HDMI and Dolby will not be available until Q4. I am getting antsy that all my speakers are sitting with nothing to push them. I have eyes on the Marantz 8802A which can be bought for $2700 from authorized dealer. Would I be making a mistake by going 8802A? Is the XMC-1 that much better sounding?

Hi longsofty - First, welcome to the Lounge! Second, I'm unfortunately, unable to advise you on your decision - In the first place, I'm just not much of a HT guy, and know little about processors. Second, I'm not familiar with the Marantz. The ONLY info I can drop into the hat is that my audio buddy, novisnick, had the XMC-1 and I heard it at his place. It sounded AWESOME! So if it's so grand, how come Nick only "had" the processor? He's waiting with bated breath for the new RMC-1 to come out and is "slumming" with his Yamaha AVR until then. Maybe Nick will pop into the thread with his advice on the XMC-1? Cheers - Boomzilla

They are planning to reease the XMC-2. When they do I don't know what will happen to your XMC-1 and all its promised upgrades in the future. Maybe a wait and see may be better?

LOL - And the Gar fires a torpedo down Big Dan's channel! Like Marantz offers upgrades? Just sayin'...
Other than "Auro 3d" I don't see much from Marantz.
Not to say that there's anything wrong with the brand...

Yep, had the glorious XMC-1 (stock) and she was sweet! Fact! Ive been a HT guy for three decades, minimum! Ive had more setups then Id be willing to admit. The 11.6 Yamaha HT sure was sweet but I want the final XMC version or RMC-1, so I reluctantly sold my XMC-1 to maximize my return and minimize my loss as many XMC-1 units may be on the market when Emotivas newest processor debuts! Ill suffer now to minimize my cost later. Slumming never sounded so good but my HT will be The Nines when I get it. I already have amps for plenty of channels. So Now,,,,,,I wait! & wait! &&&&&😂

Maybe a wait and see may be better? according to dan/lonnie at the emofest, the XMC-2 will have the new chip set being employed in the RMC-1 along with the front three channels being "fully balanced" and other changes and therefore will be more expensive than the current XMC-1 with upgrades and atmos. I think they speculated mid 3,000's. the current XMC-1 is 2500 with new board and 3000 with atmos board added, so it makes sense the XMC-2 with further changes and updates will be more than that. dan says that after the RMC-1 is released, the XMC-2 will not be far behind. he also feels that for every 1 RMC sold, they will probably sell 10 XMC-2's. my 2 cents Tchaik....................

Thanks Guys. I think waiting for the XMC-2 will be a long wait based on what I am hearing. Did a little research and spoke to Emotiva. Still not sure of direction.

Per the Emofest notes...the upgrades to the XMC-1 happen as the RMC-1 is done. The XMC-2 comes later. Straight from Big Dan and Lonnie. To the OP...if you don't need Atmos at this time, consider buying the XMC-1 "now" (or as soon as it is available again in stock) and doing the HDMI update at home. That's one they say can be done at home. And, as far as sound quality, I've not heard the Marantz, but I have seen many people saying they prefer the XMC-1 sound more. Mark

I would order up an XMC-1 with no hesitation. 3 years of audio bliss by October, got mine in 2014.

If you want something fast which will do up to 7.1.4 with Atmos, DTS -X, and Auro (extra), try a Marantz AV-8803. It is going for $1499 on Amazon. You can then wait a year or two for the XMC-2 or the RMC-1 to come of age, fully debugged.

You'd get the HDMI upgrade for free when that comes along, but it's (very) functional as is. I think the XMC-1 sounds great, but haven't listened to Marantz in some time so can't help with that comparison.

Grab an Anthem avm60 if you can't wait any longer. I went from xmc to marantz 7702mk2 because I wanted atmos. I missed nothing except for Dirac. Xt32 isn't anywhere remotely close to what Dirac has going on. Anthem arc is closer but still not as good. Dirac allows FAR more user adjustability. But Arc has some nice setup features as well. I'm using my marantz with a pair of minidsp ddrc88's until the xmc2 is released and put through its paces. Consolidation from 3 boxes and 6ru to 1box 3ru will be nice for rack layout.

Onkyo & Integra aren't my favorite brands (been there - done that!) but in this case I think it might be a good idea for something that would tide you over until the RMC/XMC in the flavor you're looking for comes to market. The DHC-40.2 for $350 might work - and its so cheap you can just throw it away after you're done with it. A good idea since nobody in their right mind would buy it! Best reason to buy refurbished is the 2 year factory warranty by Integra vs the Onkyo models.

Ah, I read further and saw the note that the new HDMI board wasn't available, but thought they had an interem solution.
