I appreciate any help you can give in regard to the subject matter. The UMC Manual is very limited as far as explaining the inner workings of the unit, my biggest gripe. Off-the-shelf AVR receivers do a much better job.
I am using the UMC200 on a 2-channel system as preamp, after getting a new AVR for the home theater. Connection is computer (JRiver)>usb dac>rca UMC200 >amplifier.
I bought a powered subwoofer thinking of using the bass management of UMC200. Connected the sub on the rca output of 7.1 connection. The usb dac is connected through the 7.1 input (FL & FR) of UMC200. After playing a track on JRIver, no bass is coming out. Tried connecting the usb dac to the audio inputs (rca) to see if there is any luck. Nothing.
Do you only have bass management when one use the built in DAC of UMC200, and nothing on analog inputs? Or is there something wrong with my unit?
Thanks for any help!

The bass management in the UMC-200 is digital, so it needs a digital signal to manage. Which means converting an analogue signal to digital (ADC), bass managing and then converting back to analogue (DAC). From memory (it's in the manual) if we want to use the ADC we can't have the UMC-200 set to Direct/Stereo, it has to be one of the processing formats ("decoder modes").

Thanks for the help! It is appreciated.
I would love to have an ADC for bass management, but at least, it is nice to know there is nothing wrong with the unit.
