What firmware did you start off with? The 5.2 or the 5.4. I think you have to update the firmware with 5.2 when installing the new board and then follow up with the 5.4. Also try re flashing the firmware again. Thanks to both of you. I am now up and running. The re flash did it! That's awesome! Please let us know how it is working for you after you have tested it it for a bit.

Probably put in my system tomorrow. Replacing a Marantz 8805 which I like but have never really been a big fan of Audyssey (?). I definitely prefer Dirac but went with the 8805 because of Atmos. Will definitely be upgrading to the Atmos board when available.

Hmm... so you're using Toslink from your TV to access audio from your TV's apps. Then, when switching back to your Genie Mini (which I assume uses HDMI for audio), you lose audio altogether which requires a cold reboot to get audio back. Is this correct...? Yes. I admit I hadn't been paying attention but it never seems to happen when switching between HDMI sources. I'll try to isolate it better and see if I can reproduce it, then send email to Emo. Just lost audio when switching from HDMI-4 to HDMI-1. PS Pro on HDMI-4, Genie Mini on HDMI-1.

I would like to ask a quick question regarding eARC on the new HDMI V3 board. I have a new Sony A9f OLED TV which DOES have the new eARC protocol. Does the new V3 board support eARC? I suspect the answer is “No” if my understanding is correct, in the basis that eARC requires HDMI 2.1 and the new board uses HDMI 2.0b not 2.1
I may have completely misunderstood this, so those with more knowledge (Keith L) might be able to clarify for me. The reason I am hoping to get eARC is so that I can utilise the HD Audio tracks (DTS Master and Dobly True HD) on various 4K MKV movie files I have in my Plex server, using the inbuilt and excellent Plex app on the Sony TV.
Thanks

Thanks eArc is an HDMI 2.1 feature (not mandatory). I believe that Lonnie posted that eArc requires a hardware change so a new board is required. - Rich

Thanks This from another thread last night. We are already working on an interim solution for EARC. As of right now, there is only one way to get EARC which is to put a side car chip on the HDMI TX. Not the most elegant solution, but a functional one. The elegant solution would be to have EARC built into the HDMI TX, but there are no chips that have this and they won't be available for at least another year. Luckily, there are no TVs or content providers that can do EARC, so we have some time. I've been talking to DTS about IMAX for a while now and I will be seeing them in a few weeks to dig a little deeper. I can't really give you a time frame for either at this point, just that we are either actively working on it or looking into it. Lonnie We are already working on an interim solution for EARC. My Marantz SR6013 receiver, which btw uses the same Panasonic chips found on the XMC-1 V3 HDMI Board, got the eARC update via firmware two months ago.

Has there been any new information on IF the XMC-1 will be getting an ATMOS Board upgrade option and when? Last I can recall was after the RMC-1 was released but, understand they are still working on updates for the RMC-1 seeing as that is the newest flagship

Got the XMC into my system this morning and slowly connecting my source devices. So far I have connected my cable tv and 4K UHD Blu-ray player. Both are working fine. As part of my trying to fix my "Video" issue mentioned in earlier posts, I had done a factory reset so I am in the process of slowly setting things up. Up till now I have not run Dirac or set any distances or levels. Have set crossovers. With barely minimum settings, I must say I prefer the sound of my XMC to the Marantz 8805. With Audyssey (? - can never remember how to spell that) off in the Marantz and only basic settings in the XMC, I definitely like the way my center channel especially is sounding. Someone else hearing the same comparison might disagree, but to my 70 year old ears I prefer the XMC to the Marantz in their basic settings.
During set up, while making selections, I did notice a slow response that was not that noticeable to me. That is, if I did rapid fire, there were definite delays. But, if I did a normal (for me) selection of pushing the buttons, I did not notice any real issue. I am not talking about several seconds delay. I was just pushing the button and then waiting a fraction of a second. No issue for me.
While I only have 2 sources connected so far, I have no issue with going from one source to another. Yes there is a delay while the HDMI chain does its handshake, but once again at least for me nothing that I have a problem with. In fact sometimes when changing inputs on the Marantz I actually think it took longer for the connection to be made on it than the XMC. I was changing inputs by pushing the associated buttons, in this case 1 for the tv and 2 for the Blu-ray.
When playing a Dolby Vision movie, the picture was outstanding (just as good as the Marantz). I was also pleased that when I changed volume and pushed the info button (or any other button that would provide a description) the information was displayed on the screen. I have other pre-pros for which this is not the case.
The only issue, if it can be called that, so far is that when I went from playing the Dolby Vision movie to the TV input, when I pushed the Info button on the XMC remote it showed Dolby Vision in the very bottom right hand corner. Instead of showing the info for the TV input in that area of the info screen, it seemed to be showing the info from the movie input. This changed when I turned the unit off and then back on. If I had another input source connected, it might have changed then but I am not sure. Will be adding more tomorrow and will see what happens then.
That is about it for now. Will try and add more if appropriate.
Regards to all,
Steve

Oh come on... Your TV service provider isn’t broadcasting in Dolby Vision...? 😂 But seriously... that little Info bug still seems to occasionally present itself even under 5.4. enricoclaudio has noticed it and I have seen it once (that I have noticed) since we’ve updated. Rest assured, though, it’s just a lingering bug in the info code. You’re passing SDR, HDR and Dolby Vision perfectly fine. It occurs far less than it previously did (I used to see it often) and, hopefully, it will be flushed out for good in the next code release... 😉

Now thinking about what I saw on the menu screen, I noticed that the letter o seem to have several dots underneath it. The funny thing is that it was not all the o's. Any one else notice this?
Also, is there any way to keep the info screen up longer. I don't read fast enough to see it all at one time. Have to push the Info button several times before I get all the way through.
Thanks much.

Yes, the OSD does time out rather quickly and there is no adjustment to change it. But that is a good idea for the “wish list”... 😉

Just a quick follow-up to yesterdays impressions.
After a day of watching tv and a movie last night (The House With A Clock In Its Walls), I am really liking the sound of my XMC. I still have not run Dirac, just using Preset 1 with some very very minor tweaks to its Factory setting. The center channel especially, at least to my ears, is much clearer than the Marantz or even other units I have owned.
No issues at all with the video. Picture was outstanding with no drop outs or any kind of hiccup at all.
Will start adding the remainder of my source devices later on today. Very happy with this unit. Unless I run into something unexpected, I see no reason to take up further space.
Regards.
