You guys can buy OLEDs at $700-1000 CAD? wow. Actually, I said US$ 700-1,000. Thank you for all the suggestions. Despite my loyalty to Sony, I rejected it as allegedly quirky with the V3 HDMI XMC-1 board. As a former UMC-1 owner, I think it wiser to select a TV that plays well with V3, than depend on EMO bug-squashing... After advice here, googling, Utube reviews, and a big-box store visit, I am leaning towards the Samsung nu8000 series; a big as the credit card allows. Unless someone know of a deal-breaker. Sincerely /b

I got the Vizio E40-C2 for the bedroom and very pleased with bottom line, cheapo monitor. Vizio ain't bad and you can get the M (mid range) series on sale for a good price. I saw the P (premium) series 65" less than $1k- $806 @ Newegg LCD display technology has advanced a lot and anyone can find a good looking monitor in their price range today. Shop the features you want, compile a list of brands/models, then check the reviews.

As a former UMC-1 owner, I think it wiser to select a TV that plays well with V3, than depend on EMO bug-squashing... I'm curious about this "allegedly quirky with Sony" stuff. Is there another discussion about this in the Emo Lounge? I have a new Sony 900f on DirectTV in the theater room currently running the MC700 for surround and would be considering an XMC-1 (or similar) when/if I decide to go for Atmos. The only "quirk" I notice pretty consistently is that when I boot up everything on DirectTV channel 104 in 4K, DirectTv says my TV doesn't support 4K ;-) I drill down in the DirectTv menus to the video formats supported, check the box for 4K, and then all is fine. Given the quirkiness of HDMI in general my thinking is this is more of a DirectTV issue, but I could be wrong.

For a bright room with lots of ambient light I’d probably go for a higher end Samsung qled with fald. For a darker room no question oled.
